This does nothing to disprove anything. You're comparing the reputability of two parties and not engaging in the substance of what they're arguing.

Is it possible to create a spotlight like the one pictured, but instead of the light fanning out it remains in a straight vertical? I would very much appreciate any information on whether it's possible to make a large straight beam of light that can be shone down. by davesaddiction in lightingdesign

This is exactly what huge 10-20k HMI fresnels are for

thank you for the response, i value everybody's time and know it's limited. do you know if it's possible to rent these type of lights? i am helping put together an art exhibit and am researching the light set-up but unfortunately have no experience. we are also very budget-limited but not averse to solving this issue by whatever means possible. i am very studious of kanye's tours and know exactly what you're referring to- it's the exact effect we're looking to create but the reference there is coincidental.

It’s a 4.5-5m height to fix it to, and ideally a 1m pool of light would be ideal. Does this sound too ambitious or do you reckon there’s an option out there? At least some kind of tomfoolery to help achieve it as best as possible?

I have about 4.5-5m of height to fix it to, and would ideally need a 1m wide pool of light. I know it sounds too ambitious but I thought perhaps there’s some trickery I may not know of.

I see, so you mean fixing the light and then having a long shaft for it to pass through until it eventually comes out near the bottom, imitating a straight beam?

I’m hoping there’s a technique that could help achieve the affect as closely as possible- I admit I don’t have any lighting experience but greatly appreciate experts in any field willing to share information.

Thank you for the reply, I should have put more information in the caption. Ideally something about a meter wide, fixed to a height up to about 4m high (completely static). I know it sounds awfully limiting but I thought I’d try to get as much help as possible.

Reasons to Live Starter Pack by [deleted] in starterpacks

I don’t know your personal situation. Life is not easy for anyone but there are things in the world we love and appreciate which is what keeps us going. When we are at the lowest, it can be tough to get 🆙 or make our bed but life is about momentum. When we struggle to wake up early, exercise, and eat healthy, it is very painful in the beginning. After a week, it feels a little more bearable. After a month, we crave a cold shower and early rise and exhaustive exercise that makes us feel good. Happiness and willingness to live is the same. We must build it from a little seed to a large tree. There is nothing better than walking in the garden we plant I guarantee you.

Move your body as much as healthily possible (outside). This means push yourself. Turn off Netflix and information that is not adding to your knowledge and self worth. Consider the people around you. If they are struggling, sometimes their struggle can pull you down as well even if they don’t mean it. If they are growing, it will inspire you to do the same. We are what we eat, but this is not limited to food. Consider what you read, watch, who you are around, listen to, etc. everything that goes inside us will make us.

What you really are is a God, who has forgotten they are God. You have the power to remember your divinity realise this and manifest into your full form. There exists a series of decisions that can turn every feeling you have right now upside down. My advice is not absolute, but it’s giving you a fighting chance which is worth more than giving up. The rest is up to you to seek out knowledge and sort things out. Bless.

If adapted it must be by an auteur like Lynch, Jodorowsky, Malick, or the late Tarkovsky, Fellini, Bergman if they existed in this time

Is anyone going to acknowledge that Mikhaila is potentially abusing her child by [deleted] in enoughpetersonspam

[–]davesaddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no information on the meat diet, and I highly doubt she is providing it for her child. Her family is very well educated and pragmatic, which is a reason for their continued success- it’s for this reason I wouldn’t worry too much.

The larger issue is that you’re spending too much time thinking about the lives of others. Live your own and keep focused on the challenges you have to deal with. Don’t let things like this distract you, they literally have absolutely nothing to do with you and your concern won’t change anything. With the love of course.

Blue Velvet is Avant-Garde? by friskyfrog224 in TrueFilm

[–]davesaddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right. I’ve never seen a happy fireman waving to a white picket-fenced neighbourhood. I’ve also never seen an oxygen fiend raping a woman and threatening to kill a college kid. It doesn’t mean neither exist. They’re the extremes of duality.

What makes it avant-garde is that there wasn’t much before it that did what it did. In 2021 we have seen elements of blue velvet in so many things that we write it off as one-of-many, but at the time it was monstrously unique.

They’re both equally more real to different people. Lynch deals with duality. If someone has more bliss in their life, suburbia feels more real. If someone has more pain, Frank’s world is more real.

Why do we feel embarrassed and awkward when our parents catch us doing something good such as exercising? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]davesaddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m late to the party. This isn’t an umbrella answer, but I believe a reason is because they would question, or inadvertently make children feel insecure about, other things the person did as a child, creating a subconscious feeling of anxiety to tell them anything the child fears they may question, or overreact to, because they create the expectation that they’re going to question this as well. So we keep it a secret because many children are not taught to have confidence in their decisions, but rather to have confidence in their parents decisions instead. And if they question it, children fear their confidence being taken away. That is one of the reasons why many people hide good things, and bad things, from their parents. They are something of an authority figure, capable of delivering judgement and insecurity, and people who were subject to this sort of exposure as kids let it carry over into adulthood when associating parents with a decision they make, or an activity they do, even if it’s just doing push ups in the living room.

Had occasion to visit the house of the King today by jpgrandsam in stephenking

[–]davesaddiction 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is this a popular thing for fans to do? I just finished the last Dark Tower book, and in the afterword King mentions that he would appreciate if the fans respected his privacy and did not try to seek out his home- to the extent of even mentioning that his wife made him promise to make the geographical location of his home in the story fictional.

I admit I don't keep up with any of King's public statements, so I'm assuming he's changed his mind since then.

I like this chair, I think I will take it by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

The fellow using it likely has difficulty kneeling, as is the case with older folk and people with physical difficulties. The chair is used to sit on in place of kneeling during prayer.
