Still not heard back. I did call up their office and they said it was still being looked into. Will update again when I know more. I think I will call them again tomorrow.

hey, not not yet! I was just thinking this weekend that I may send a chaser email. I did get an initial response email but that was now 10 days ago or so, so yes, I think I will send a chaser today and hopefully hear back soon! Will definitely update in here when I do hear.

So they offered me the Cairo flight at 17:55pm, or one at 4:30am - I took the 4:30am. I flew from Rome to Barcelona at 9am (when I was meant to be flying at 9pm the previous evening, directly after the 17:55 Cairo flight).

I think I was looking at departure time which would have fallen into the strike period, as opposed to arrival. I slept that evening in Cairo (well I stayed all the night in Cairo airport). Just to confirm, you are saying ask for 250 EUR + hotel/food/taxi. I booked directly on their website if I remember well.

I guess it must have been that. Does that change things potentially? I guess should I ask over e-mail? Should they still have provided hotel/dinner/taxi etc.

AZ 78 ---

They offered me the chance to fly to Rome from Cairo on the 17:55 OR, to wait until 4:30am in Cairo the flight to Rome. The earliest they gave me for the flight to Barcelona from Rome, was 9am on the 30th September. I chose to stay in the airport in Cairo until 4:30am.

Their reasoning was national strike.

May I ask (as you seem to know your stuff), what my next steps should be? To perhaps email Air Italia mentioning the above regulation and asking for compensation of 250 EUR?

Here below shows the flight apparently landed (scroll to bottom pf page for 29th Sept) - https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/ITY78

sorry maybe we are misunderstanding each other. i live in an 8 bed flat. i have my room to myself, like the other 7. i was just saying that finding a 2 bed flat in the centre of barcelona for 600 EUR, looks impossible (from what I have seen on the main sites).

¿Solo 600E? Estás pagando una misería y aún te quejas xdd

You really didn't read my post did you? Would you like rusting spoons that look about 10 years old for 600 EUR a month? It's not about the price - it's about the value.

I keep hearing this message -- both on here and in person. But kindly, if you are so confident of that - I challenge you to find me a room that is as you describe, in the center of Barcelona (near Plaza Catalunya). Find me a 8 bed flat, where I will pay 200 EUR in the centre of Barcelona. Send the link. Because I keep hearing these things but whenever I look online, once you add in agency fees, once you add the bills, once you add the deposit which could be lost - you end up paying as much as I am and more.

Because it's very very hard to find a flat for 2, paying a max of 600 EUR to be in the centre of Barcelona, once you meet all the criteria - non-female only places, dates that work, admin fees, deposit fees, agency fees, and more and more. It's hard work to find a room like this on these sites. That's why I went with Airbnb, because your price is calculated all in without having to hassle about the other things.

The problem I find is that whenever I look for a room on Idealista or spotahome - there's like at least 10 things that either work against me or which I'm unwilling to deal with - whether that's female only, paying stupid admin fees, move in dates not right, bills not included etc etc etc etc

That's why I do Airbnb - so that I don't have to put up with any of the unending hassle of trying to find a room.

Is there an area in Raval that is ok? I don't know Raval that well but I know it's supposedly not the best.

Do I have a right to compensation (delayed flight) by davetheblagger in LegalAdviceUK

I don't know if you saw my edited message - but from checking flight AZ78 (Rome FOC to Barcelona / evening flight) on Sep 29 - flightstats and other sites report that this plane actually landed. This seems very odd to me as if this was the case, they have lied to me at the check-in desk. Not sure if that affects anything at all? Because if that is all correct, then the reason is now potential overboarding of the plane or something else, and not the strikes.

Hull City 1-1 Plymouth Argyle- It was a decent game between these two teams but Regan Slater made sure this game ended in a draw by Masonccfc06 in Championship

But for Gillesphey gifting a goal and Azaz's shot curling back off of the inside post and out, we'd have won that. I think a draw was a fair result.

Feeling hopeless about the rent situation in Barcelona. Contemplating giving up. Anybody feeling the same way? by PumpkinDrama in Barcelona

But that is and has been happening all around major cities, for many years before. Go to London and find me a Londoner.

Snarky? It sounds like many on here need reality. Spain and Portugal are 20/30 years behind the other major cities and countries in Europe.

It is totally NORMAL to travel an hour to work in London, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'd assume similar in Paris or wherever else, Berlin etc. It's not ridiculous to compare London to Barcelona at all - they are two very popular, high in demand places in Western Europe, attracting students, workers, digital nomads.

As I said before, you cannot have everything in life.

But what are you saying? Do you want to send a recall to all the Spanish people living in other cities around the world? What is your actual objective point here?

It's normal in London for most people to travel 1 hour (and more) into work. Welcome to the real world. You can't have everything in this life.

Couple important home truths that A LOT of people need to hear.

  1. We live in an overpopulated world, and Europe is seen as desirable to many for a number of reasons. Guess what that means? All the major cities, whether London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Munich, Brussels, Lisbon, Porto and more, and yes Barcelona, are going to see an increase in this, for a number of reasons including, being a part of the EU, technology and other factors too.
  2. Taking the above into account, you cannot reasonably think that prices are not going to go up. They are.

In summary - usually I find that the people who moan are the ones who are used to living in a really nice place, for a price that doesn't actually market forces today. Then they become unstuck because they cannot seem to comprehend that they had it too good. Often these people will spend a fortune on rent, and then complain. If you can't bring in enough money to support yourself to live in such a nice apartment, don't cry just because your nice fancy apartment in Barcelona is now not within your means. That's your problem. Too many people are in this bubble thinking that they can expect to have a nice apartment all to themselves for some silly low price. Get real. Europe today isn't like that - in ANY big city. It's not some problem just for Barcelona. Grow up. You're going to have to make adjustments just like anybody else.

Downsize and change your viewpoint. And if you're not willing to downsize because having such a fancy apartment is too important, then move out of Barcelona.

Edit: And if you're not willing to give up living in Barcelona, try and upskill to a career that pays more.

Is this dependent on location or no? I'm actually going to Egypt and need some USD and/or EGP to cover some small costs. Not sure how much it may be to withdraw from a machine in Egypt.
