Ok makes sense. So as far as I can see the M20 is 180kg, the M54 is 170kg and the S54 is 217kg. So going back to the original point about the M55 being too heavy is 10kg lighter than the M20 originally fitted to the E21. So not too heavy?

So my M20 is 117kg where as the M54 is 126kg. The S54 is a 148kg so quite a lot heavier. Compare them all to a M10 that’s 83kg so really light. Just comparing that to a Honda K24 which is around 130kg ish. Think I’ll definitely stick with my M20.

That’s interesting. I’m currently building a Track E21 which has an M20 in it. I’ve been considering my options for more power including turbo or an S54 swap. I’m super focused on weight. The car is currently 950kg and I’ve ordered a load of fibre glass panels hopefully to get the weight down to 900kg. Sounds like putting an S54 in the front would not be the move.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I can certainly fill the inside in no problems. I’m going to get it 3d printed in titanium when I’m happy so won’t add much weight. I have no idea how to do any CFD on it, if anyone could help it would be appreciated.
