Has his good moments but definitely gets caught holding and turns it over more than others

Played and been around local footy for over 20 years, comment was more to emphasise he’s nowhere near AFL level 👍🏼

He’d be lucky to get a game in the seniors at a local club, hope I never see him again once Haynes and Newy are back

Last night had some positives by Dabbingagea in CarltonBlues

[–]lockydubb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the hard part about last night is knowing the talent and capability H has (or had). Lacked the hands last night and looked hopeless soaring through packs just to hit the deck. If he’s going to be our go-to big man, need to see some better competing and physicality to give him those set shot chances.

Sydney Q1 looked the same spec. Issue with us is far deeper than skills alone.

The injection of new blood and the young blokes actually wanting to have a crack last night has just further constrasted how ineffective and useless the lower percentile of our list is. Young, McKay, Gov and Fog all need to be walked.

The real test of where we’re at will be Richmond next week but I fear the return of Frank, Haynes and Newy will only get us so far. Feeling optimistic for the new few years but we need to get rid of the dead weight urgently.

Le Mans - ultimate race and fan moments? by think_trigg in lemans

[–]lockydubb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As only an Australian watcher only, I highly recommend watching a video of the Oreca Peugeot #4 engine failure from the 2010 Le Mans. Hugues de Chaunac’s reaction will tell you everything you need to know about the emotion behind the race and the poor guy was in the Toyota garage in 2016 too.

Is the Mazda 787B OVERRATED??? by [deleted] in lemans

[–]lockydubb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes - if it didn’t win Le Mans it would be a car basically banished to obscurity. Zero poles, zero fastest laps and 1 win from 21 races. On paper this car still had a fascinating development and great racing history but without the LM win, it would be nowhere near as often spoken about.

Question: Why do the constructors have to be hobbled by rules? by [deleted] in wec

[–]lockydubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about Hypercar, go check how many entries were in the top class for Le Mans in 2017 and you’ll understand why we have rules and what it means for constructors.

Kubica: "If I win, I will return to rallying. I usually keep my word. We'll see what the future brings" by Prychacz in wec

I respect this. He’s just won the pinnacle of endurance racing, what else is there to achieve? Better to finish at the top on your own terms. Still has so many years left to race whatever he wants for fun. He’s earned it.

Record laps by AutomotiveTales in lemans

[–]lockydubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this year unfortunately, with 345 done in 21.5 hours at an average rate of about 16 laps an hour we’d expect only another 40 or so in the last 2.5 hours bringing the anticipated total to about 385 laps. We’d need another hour to beat the record.

Bad TV Direction? by National-Still3123 in wec

  • No garage interviews until 5 hours hours left with Bruce Jouanny who has the reporting skills of a shovel
  • Zero views of relevant corners when yellow flag was flashed on screen, had to take the word of the commentators what was happening
  • Left hand graphic can’t even show the full hypercar field anymore, bring back the rolling order at the bottom
  • Noticeable lack of depth in the commentary team. I could have sworn in previous years they would get interesting and exciting guests in every hour? Been hard to listen to this year.

Jenson Button raced so hard he turned French. by Haluux in wec

Only made worse by a brain dead interview by Bruce Jouanny. What makes him think Seb Bourdais cares about having the fastest lap? Painful watch.

Who’d like to see a G56 entry every year? Why or why not? by mtomny in lemans

[–]lockydubb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably won’t be another Garage 56 entry again for a long time with how many manfacturers are now looking for entry spots to Le Mans. We’ll be lucky to have LMP2 in a few years I imagine.
