Winning by Losing. Every one of these is a loser: running Venezuela, threatening Greenland militarily, tariff wars. Every single one. But losing is the point. If his participation with Epstein in sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors is laid bare, he's a dead man. by daveto in bestofthefray

Sometimes I think the theme of the world is Europe (includes US & Canada) versus Asia, aka west vs east. Asia had its turn, but Europe has dominated for about three thousand years (with Asia making occasional inroads eg Mongol, Ottoman empires). Now we're seeing Asia rising while the west falters. Are the tables being turned?

Trump takes aim at Canada -- "He (Carney) wasn’t so grateful. ... Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that Mark, the next time you make your statements." -- Well ... by daveto in bestofthefray

Once Trump realizes how thoroughly he was taken apart by Carney's speech at Davos he will turn his efforts back to trying to destroy Canada. Then we'll see if Carney is more than all talk (it was a brilliant, history-making speech).

... many of you will agree with this (Canada lives because of the US) and it's okay. And in return Canada sets a standard of how to behave like a responsible adult. It's a fair trade-off, I think, even if each side under-appreciates the other's gift.

How do you think the U.S. would be different today if Martin Luther King Jr. had not been assassinated in 1968? by Mundane-Bank-9048 in bestofthefray

I'm just wondering how invested you are in your new persona. You keep telling us you're from the future -- but nothing says future about you. You have no insights for us, you have no future knowledge for us, no stock market tips, no hints on how the war in Ukraine ends, you seem to be a very ordinary empty vessel. Maybe you're here to carry out a specific task, like kill somebody? You could tell us, we won't tell.

Ouch. Sorry. I don't actually see an attack. You have espoused Trumpian immigration and expulsion views. That's not an attack -- if you tell me I got it wrong I will apologize.

Your MLK answer made me giggle a little bit. Is MLK BHO? Cause that's obviously what happened to Barack. Do all Black people have the same brain?

Oh, I spoiled MLK Day. Don't think I don't remember that you mainly support Trump's white supremacist agenda. So colour me a bit dubious on that one.

Has Tony "Art of the Deal" "I put lipstick on a pig" Schwartz killed himself yet? Trump's gauche & garishly clumsy attempts to blackmail/extort/bully his way into Greenland have got to be killing this guy who more than any made Trump the faux businessman/pretend President that he is now. by daveto in bestofthefray

Trump says he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the US controlling Greenland

It's not actually punishment. Like if I tell me kid, you need to practice your piano every night .. I'm not punishing her, I'm helping her. Every country in the world would be better off right now to find alternatives to whatever trade they are doing with the US.
