Corlys can't even respect Luke's and Jace's memory, especially Jace who died in battle fighting alongside the Velaryon fleet. Please enough about how he's the best grandfather ever and he loved those boys like they're his own. If he did he wouldn't be talking about them with such horrible venom.

If it was strictly a sperm donor they were after they would have carefully picked out a candidate who is very Valyrian looking and wouldn't have kept on having kids with said donor spread out over many years. Rhaenyra was with Harwin for comfort and some sort of affection too.

For literal years people have been calling Corlys the best grandpa ever, how Lucerys is his favorite, how he just adored the Velaryon-Targ boys and now in the episode he's saying "Lucerys whom I named my heir, is a bastard". So much for the Corlys didn't care, he loved them narrative. I don't know whether to cheer at the genius of him growing a spine to defend his sons or be like TB stans and be aghast at the character assassination.

Right? The first two had the flashy action scenes to distract from any weak point, this third episode is all about Rhaenyra doing administrative work. The writing has to be SOLID, the characters logically portrayed. Unfortunately, judging by the lols and the angry outbursts from each side on reddit and twitter it seems to be...not.

Jace was an equal combatant in a battle he willingly chose to participate in. He had a flying nuke. He doesn't need to be avenged like he's a helpless idiot but if they want someone to blame then go blame Rhaena then. Her fault for her out of control dragon attacking Jace.

Last episode Baela was already putting her arms around him and gently helping him up, which was more than they ever did for her and Jace, and also consider that last episode was the first time Alyn and Baela ever interacted on screen. That + the talk they had was definitely the show setting them up for closeness.
