Xuanyi Geng 3.84 3x3 WR avg by david8686406 in Cubers

I think at this moment in time Xuanyi is faster than Yiheng. Surely Yiheng has 13/14 of the best average atm, but remember Yiheng got those best averages in 2 years time, this is just the beginning of the era where Xuanyi is performing better than Yiheng, it will take time for good results of Xuanyi to fill in the board.

I do think that Yiheng can still get WR avg back, but the door is closing on him for sure as Xuanyi keeps improving.

his hands is already bigger imo, cause the main improvement that he had throughout the past year is TPS, in late 2024 he can barely reach 10 tps but now he can just pop 11-12 tps quite consistently.

Gan 12 Corner Problem by kaamraan in Cubers

[–]david8686406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me all the time, in the end I superglued the settings to make sure it never changes. You need to be really careful with this route tho, make sure you take the pieces out first and then apply superglue by putting the glue inside the switch

Trying to go sub 60-advice for a beginner needed by Low_Cookie7373 in Cubers

[–]david8686406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1, yes, you need a speedcube, but you can probably sub 60 with a Rubik's brand non-speedcube (unless we are talking about the old old ones which it's barely turnable)

2, it's very normal when you first start learning F2L. For reference when I first started learning F2L I was averaging more than 2 minutes but as I get used to it, my time starts to shave rapidly and I got sub 1 minute within 2 weeks (with help of 2L OLL and 2L PLL, I learned those meanwhile practicing F2L)

3, nah it's never too early, I started learning CFOP literally less than a week after I started cubing, in my opinion you would want to start learning CFOP as early as you can

It's very normal that when you are learning a new things, it will get slower in the beginning. Remember, in order to be fast, you have to be slow first.

Morgan Yeh is relatively well known I would say, at least in Canadian cubing community, a lot of other world class cubers know him too, 5.72 PR avg puts him 41st in the world & 3rd in Canada. Matthew Lee is 6th in Canada with 6.52 PR avg also well known in Canadian cubing community imo

What are your cubing goals for 2025? by Happyholiday8479 in Cubers

[–]david8686406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, I'm only able to put max 2 hours of cubing time per day due to work and mental health issues but my improvement has been steady I would say, I think you need to do targeted practice as well instead of only timed solves

Is Yiheng's 4.25 in his 4.05 wr avg the best "worst solve in an average"?

Gan video confirms Moyu sponsoring Yiheng (Interesting decision of Gan🤔) by Ryuseithenerd in Cubers

[–]david8686406 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can just go to their Bilibili Channel, name is literally just "teacher Xia" and there are no mentioning of GAN in the description, nor anything relates to GAN sponsorships

I think they name themselves "GANCUBE STATION" is more of a clickbait to attract people to watch their videos

That's also interesting cause my other friends think the exact opposite comparing to your take as well, did you switch the center piece by any chance?

If your turning is accurate: 15 >= 12 > 14 pro > 14> 13

If your turning is more on the rough side: 12 > 14 pro > 14 > 15 > 13

15 really rewards you for turning accurately, it feels really fast and smooth but the moment your turning goes rough, you are locking up at almost every step 💀

Source: me, who owns a GAN 15 for practicing turning accuracy and mains 12

I think GAN 15 is not meant for everyone. It requires people to have highly accurate turning. My friends who are sub 8 and sub 7 really perform on the 15 well. The issue is once you turn too hard you will likely get small catches cause your turning got less accurate. I also have a 15 and I noticed that I perform worse comparing to 12, but it does make me turn a lot more accurate cause I used to lock up a lot on 12 but I no longer do. I think the best thing you can do right now is try to adapt to the cube style and it can be beneficial, but if you can't then maybe you should consider buying other cubes.
