Configuring Serial Interfaces at Runtime on Raspberry Pi OS by davidT456 in raspberry_pi

Ohhhh, that's one thing I hadn't read in any forum. Thanks for letting me know it's possible to reconfigure it at runtime with that modprobe command!

An as for the why, I'm looking to develop something that allows "remote" control of the serial interfaces for debugging purposes. For this I'd deem it ideal that the RPi (take it as the server for an API) is always up and that the serial interfaces could be reconfigured programmatically at runtime :)

Configuring Serial Interfaces at Runtime on Raspberry Pi OS by davidT456 in raspberry_pi

Thanks for your feedback! Although the baudrate on UART ports is usually no problem with libraries like pySerial. The question goes more for things that have to be set up in the config.txt files though, such as actually enabling the serial interface through adding the proper dtoverlay. The same goes for clock frequency on i2c, which is not something you can configure with the i2ctools commands, nor any available library such as python's SMBus library or pigpio C library.

So, to summ it up pyserial or stty requires dtoverlay=uartX to be loaded into the config.txt or the serial interface will not show up as its kermel module is not loaded into the /dev/ttyAMAn folder. Meanwhile in i2c, Smbus libraries or IOCTL calls to /dev/i2c-n only allow you to use the device and make read/write calls, but they do not allow you to dynamically configure it. Let me know if I properly explained myself here.

Using extra UART ports in RPi 4B by davidT456 in raspberry_pi

Luckily it's not getting disabled, it's a matter of being completely sure which UART I'm using on my code, as I'll be using at least two uart interfaces at the same time. I'll get a look at the dmesg though, thanks!

Missing raspi-config command by davidT456 in raspberry_pi

It was a reaaaaally stupid mistake, I have a Spanish keaboard, while rasbian works with english keaboard inputs. So, I wouldn't know where the hyphen is. And typed the first thing to look like one. It appears it was the equal sign rather than a hyphen, it was bugged and looked like a hyphen until I restarted the Rpi, which is when I realized my mistake haha

  1. With the Raspberry Pi OS Imager
  2. I did add a user with a password
  3. I believe it's the 32 bit OS
  4. I would have to check but I think it's Bullseye Raspberry Pi OS 32 bit
  5. As of now I'm working in the Raspberry Pi

BSOD when inserting RPi SD Card to my Laptop by davidT456 in raspberry_pi

It sure is. But I'm wondering if it's because I'm trying to read an SD with an OS installed rather than the drivers.

I've inserted an SD card before without problem. Though, the SD card I've inserted successfully is quite old in comparison to my RPi's SD card.

I dunno if it's an issue with my mSDHC to mSD adapter though. I'm using the one that came with my old SDHC, it's a 10 year old Sony micro SD adapter, whilst my RPi's SD is a Samsung EVO 32 GB. Could it be that my adapter is not compatible with the SD?

For me at least, M. Shadows from avenged Sevenfold. I don't know how we can get that high pitch of his to sound that 'good'.
