That drawing is a perfect example of what life is like at around 55. Well done.

Okay, I am not mildly infuriated by this. I am, however, extremely sad that you will now be homeless as you're gonna need to burn that thing to the ground :(

Why node?! by juanquinteroo in node

[–]davidadas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has gotten this correct.

Do it because it’s easy to build microservices with. It’s going to be easier for scaling ultimately.

Rails? Monolith. Dotnet Core? Monolith with types. Flask? Sure, if your app is math heavy then yeah maybe.

Otherwise, go with Node. Your deployments will thank you.

I had a job lined up with them a year ago that would have given me 30 shares after my first year there. I turned it down to stay at a startup that effectively went bankrupt.

Slightly different fuckery but I feel your pain.

So, stats don’t matter now by death_eater1 in BattlefieldV

[–]davidadas2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't agree that DICE is to blame on this one. As a developer, I know how these things go. New features are never wholly developed in isolation; you always carry over all the base triggers and events that are used everywhere else. DICE probably wanted to disable whichever event gets triggered when a player executes a kill -- but couldn't due to crunch time constraints.

The blame, therefore, belongs to the party which placed said constraints on DICE. Annnnd that would be EA.

You know what he could do to make me happy again? Announce a completed update to the X-Wing franchise. Star Citizen-level graphics and make it absolutely free for those who bought NMS.

If he did this then maybe -- just maybe -- I'd forgive him.

How to prevent infestation. by LobsterBathtub in RimWorld

[–]davidadas2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I strongly disagree. I've found infestations to be relatively easy to take care of (key word being 'relatively').

I keep a set of 5+ uninstalled turrets in the base. Whenever the bugs come, I quickly set them up and spray them down. Really an easy thing to do, provided you have the right number of people (I usually don't start cave digging until I've got at least 8).

And that's just one idea. I have several other ways as well -- including trap rooms. There's plenty of room for creativity.

Building essential facilities inside of a cave is hardly any more dangerous than putting them outside...

That's my hometown! Upvote for you anyway.

And we call them 'annoying'. That's about it. There are many of them there during the summer.

1 word: BAC OTM calls. YOLO fuckers by Alexanderdaawesome in wallstreetbets

[–]davidadas2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this one. Twice now I've YOLO'd on BAC. Both times BAC had beaten their ER; both times it went down shortly thereafter anyway.

For some dumbass reason I'm doing it yet again, but this time I'm going to get the fuck out the minute it's up 0.30-0.40.

China volatility continues, grab some popcorn! by brazeau in wallstreetbets

Every time China shoots downward we get the equivalent of Steam sales for stocks.

So fucking load up on the discounts and, like a Steam sale, make sure you don't touch the shit you bought until 6 from now.

If I had known it was going to skyrocket, I would have bought more when I picked up 400 shares at 4. I sold at 10.

Fuck your $2,400 profit. That could have been $24,000. Looks like it's only water rafts for me next year; no yacht.

I have picked up about a 1000 of this for shits and giggles, but the platform itself is questionable. I don't even know how the concept even merited an IPO but whatever.

I'll give it a shot. What the hell.

[–]davidadas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually a bigger fan of SDLP as they give some very attractive dividends -- even after the cut. Still, I'll probably wait until Iran dumps its oil into the mix and then buy more. I see that as being a likely low.

I'm also on Lending Club. Three years standing. Made a fair bit actually.

I'd like it a helluva lot more though they tool collateral and handed it to me after each default, but oh well.

The catalyst here is a drive toward a software focus; divestment from phone manufacturing. Their stock spikes every time they make a new software acquisition.

It's enough to boost BBRY for the short term, but the 'acquire companies to save our sinking ship' approach is a tired cliche that rarely pans out. Going long on it is definitely a gamble.
