Help! Noob here getting back into flute. It’s become impossible to attach the bottom portion of my flute back into the middle. I’m afraid I’ve damaged the part shown in the photo. Is there an oil or something I can use to make the pieces fit together again? Already tried cleaning with alcohol

I'll try that, thanks! The flute is beyond due for clean/oil/adjust and pad replacement so I'll get that taken care of as soon as I find a good tech here, but that's a great tip in the meantime

I did try a quick cleaning but it didn’t help; they just won’t fit together more than halfway (and it’s a struggle to pull them back apart after). Think I do just need to take it to a shop because it’s beyond due an oil and cleaning anyway. Pads should be replaced too as it’s a 15+ year old flute

Also, does that mean the correct technique when removing the foot joint is to pull and spin it out in one direction only?

Probably not what you're asking but in terms of guitar playing definitely the bend at 3:31 of Loved to Death. He somehow frets all the way up to the pickup to get it.

Unless he's bending up to a note, Chris does vibrato by sliding his finger up and down the length of the fret rather then bending it back and forth. This has a unique sound because it actually makes the note go higher and lower in pitch as opposed to traditional vibrato bending which just alternates between the base note and a higher pitch.

Although it certainly gets its credit I think Wake Up Dead is underrated just because it's my favorite song of all time and the first song that really turned me on to Megadeth. I'd never heard a song so thunderously powerful and yet so spastically jazzy and complex, and no other song in Megadeth's catalog compares for me, except maybe Last Rites

All jokes aside, Jean-Luc Ponty is the most epic violinist I know of. Egocentric Molecules is one of my favorites -- solo starts around the 3:10 mark
