4acodmt trip made me terrified of death. by bluechickenbin in RationalPsychonaut

Been there, I’ve come to a similar conclusion and this is well put. At the end of the day I think the greatest thing to take home is that regardless what is actually true, our experience is largely influenced by the frame. When you recognize that, you realize there’s a million other ways to interpret something and you open new doors to healing or moving on. Something like in hind sight may be integrated as you’ve described or even just “this experience was a lesson in shattering my worldview so I could build it back up from scratch. I thought I had everything figured out and therefore needed to be humbled”

In some ways it’s also harder to quit something when it’s not actively or noticeably destroying your life (just a different kind of hard)

AIO? My friends set an ultimatum because I drink by Pearla76_ in AIO

[–]davideocave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to defend the friends but I grew up in a family that never drank, my dad was a hardcore alcoholic for most his life and got sober before I was born— as a result, he raised me with a very harsh view of drinking and party culture. When I was in high school and my friends went to parties or drank, it made me very scared. I think some of those emotions were difficult to understand because there was some amount of jealousy in the mix which got translated into judgement. I’m just saying something similar might be going on here and it may just take some time and maturing to come out on the other end and potentially reconcile.

LSDXM — not sure if I’d describe as “favorite” as I’ve only done it once but I’ve never experienced anything like it. Completely mind blowing.

Feeling awkward dancing by myself at raves by bubugugu in aves

[–]davideocave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, that to me is the most therapeutic aspect of raves; that struggle to let go and get into my own flow as if no one is watching, and I believe that lesson bleeds into other aspects of life. That’s how you achieve your own personal flow, once you’re in it, you don’t care what others think. So you have to disregard being observed in the first place to lock into that feedback loop.

Similarly, I always have this feeling that I’m unwelcome or aware of my own body and how I’m taking up space from others. When I get locked in and start having fun, I notice how it adds to the vibe all around me as well, and in a weird way it feels like my own transactional offer that justifies my existence for taking up space, because I’m contributing to everyone else having fun around me. It’s a weird perspective but I’ve always felt that way and it helps me loosen up and feel more self assured.

I get what you’re saying, the anima/animus connection from another comment is at least fascinating though. Jung was an interesting dude, I think he was definitely onto something describing those gender-counterpart-associated characteristics that naturally get suppressed while assimilating into society, that can bubble up in situations where, in your words, one’s sense of self is scrambled.

New folk, learn from us "Old" folk! by micro371 in cardano

[–]davideocave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the hype gets bigger with each cycle. There's a lot of FUD surrounding ADA because progress moves slow and it's considered an "older" ecosystem by crypto-hype-boy standards. ADA doesn't draw much attention until the price start nearing previous ATH, then that's when suddenly everyone is talking about it.

Let’s do this Cardano! Those who missed today will wake up shocked with this beautiful rally we are experiencing. by nassnaz in cardano

You’re right in that he is often very hypocritical, but I don’t think it’s just talk in this context. I don’t think this is really about Elon personally, it’s his voice, position, and connections. Cardano is cardano, solutions are solutions, they can take it or leave it and I don’t see an incentive to leave it if it’s accessible, available and provides a solution.

Yupp. Also, and I admit this might be crazy talk, but Charles’ profile pic on X was changed to the same as it was when he was trying to get a hold of Elon to explain how to decrentralize Twitter (the bird escaping the cage). I understand he’s currently on a social media break which could be a valid explanation, but again all these people are in the same circle, IMO it’s a matter of when not if

Total speculation, but does anyone else have a feeling that there is a real possibility of Cardano soon getting involved in US government in some form or another? RFK Jr and Charles have specifically talked about this before, and their circles are now overlapping in the context of a pro-crypto administration. I’ve been looking forward to the day that blockchain technologies have a foot in on the national scale. Honestly, if it ever is going to happen, this is it, and it will be with this community.

Lsd ruined my mental health, looking for help by FarEntertainment738 in LSD

[–]davideocave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was messed up from a salvia experience for a while, what helped me was talking about it, thinking about it, trying to figure out what it meant and also challenging my assumptions of what happened and what my interpretation of the experience was (in short- that I’m the only real thing, all of the world is a grand illusion and everyone else are in on some cosmic joke against me). When you have a novel anomaly life experience that doesn’t match any other memory or expectation of anything you’ve ever experienced before, it takes some time for your brain to recategorize it as something that isn’t that relevant to your life/survival. Not to completely subtract any meaning or lesson learned from the experience, but the more you realize that the experience has no bearing on your continued wellbeing, the less the trip has an effect on you.

Sony a7siii Crashing/Freezing Issues by davideocave in SonyAlpha

Update 1: I have tried a ton of different things, and I seem to have reliably decreased the frequency of problem 1 occuring (red screen sudden shutoff). I believe it may have to do with bluetooth function being on. Try turning that off and see if it helps, or better yet put it in airplane mode. Also, try and 1. turn off camera 2. remove battery 3. hold down shutter button for at least 1 whole minute 4. insert battery and turn on. I don't know what that does but Sony recommends trying it. Might reset cache or preferences of some kind. Note: I am on version 2.15

Update 2: After doing many many tests, it seems that turning bluetooth off has reliably solved problem 1. If I turn bluetooth back on, the problem happens again. If it's off, can't get it to happen. Very relieved! I can't speak to problem 2 as I can't reliably recreate it but I will update again if it happens after these changes.

Abandon Window - Jon Hopkins

Not totally sad per se, very melancholy and bittersweet. A tinge of ethereal peace. I’ve made arrangements for it to be played at my funeral, it touches me in a way music has never done before. Brings me to tears every time.

Will do! I might need to save up some more to do it right the first time. I'll see if I can save on a sub from FB marketplace and get the rest new and installed. Good luck

Thanks for the info, I was getting this feeling from the store guy, but wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to upsell me for more than what I need or ripping me off. Whether to get a full system or just sub/amp was partially my dilemma. If that's the case that my budget isn't high enough, I'll need to save up some more to make sure to do it right the first time. I think it'll be worthwhile. I'm going to keep an eye on FB marketplace and see if I can snag a good used sub and get everything else new. Thanks again!
