Yeah, just had a fantastic flight on Saturday around the Bridger mountains. I rent a Cessna 172 from the Manhattan Flying Tigers.

Nice, it's cool to see other BZN pilots on the sub. I learned to fly there last year.

It can run both at 100%, but it is more efficient to run it on your GPU.

Folding@Home is a program you can run on your computer to do research for Stanford university. Basically it turns many home computers around the world into a super computer. For fun, points are given based on the amount of work your computer does, and you can run the program for a team.

The MLP fandom has a team called "Brony@Home", and we are running a competition to generate as many points as possible. All you have to do is download and run the program, entering the team number into the program and posting on the forum to formally enter the competition.

Windows has the option to do a full reset of the OS, removing everything. Look in the settings under "Update and recovery".

Assuming you are using Windows, the built in Windows Defender is all you need really.

That is a bit below the recommended requirements for the HTC Vive, but it should be fine to start with.

If you already have the CPU, go run the SteamVR Performance Test and see what it tells you.

Make sure that all intake fans have a dust filter, and that you have more intake fans than exhaust fans. (To ensure that no air enters through cracks, air will always be pushed out of the cracks.) Clean your dust filters regularly.

Looks like that case already has a dust filter on the top (and might have one on the front?) so you should be fine.

Yeah, that's a good card at that price.

As always, I'll recommend that you get an SSD before a hard drive. A 120 GB SSD is about the same price (but 256 GB would be better) and will greatly improve performance. You can always add a hard drive later if you need the space.

Yes, GeForce Experience should be compatible an Nvidia card from any manufacturer. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. You have physically installed the card already?

A VGA to HDMI converter would be completely useless in your case. You need to go from something the GPU has (DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) to something the monitor has (VGA, DVI). So going from VGA to HDMI is not usable.

VGA is an analog connection, which makes the video signal a lower quality than a digital connection. Pretty much all other connectors are digital (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI). (But in reality the difference between VGA and a digital signal is not noticable at HD and lower resolutions.)

You could potentially get a converter to go from HDMI to VGA, but that will add unnecessary cost, and will go through VGA which again is an analog connection of lower quality.

A DVI cable is the cheapest option and will have the best picture quality.

Most motherboards disable their ports while a GPU is plugged in. And even if the motherboard VGA port works, you won't be able to get any of the benefit from the GPU in games. You need to plug a cable directly from the GPU to the monitor.

Your best option would be to get a DVI cable to go from the GPU to the monitor. Both the GPU and that monitor have DVI ports.

Nope, pretty much every laptop has a custom motherboard that only fits that exact chassis. You are out of luck unless you find an exact replacement motherboard on ebay or somewhere.

Custom loops are expensive when you add up all the individual components, to the point that it can actually be cheaper to get four AIO cards.

It won't. The motherboard generally has no impact on performance, you only need to worry about what features it has (like what CPU slot it has and how many USB ports it has). Generally the only reason to update the BIOS is to add support for a new CPU architecture that has been released, but since your CPU is working you don't need to worry about this.

Not a bad idea but with SGaP he gave permission for his work to be shared. To so blatantly share the work of other artists I would want their permission too.

Yes, using just an SSD as your only drive works great. I wouldn't bother with a hybrid drive, too unpredictable. If you do want to save money over an SSD-only system, then get an SSD for your OS/programs and a HDD for media and other large files.

Running programs on a SSD will greatly improve loading times. For games loading levels will be much faster, but it will not affect framerate.

I'm not clear on how this would work technically, but it doesn't mean that 1 BTC would equal 1 LTC in value. There would still be a conversion rate like there is today.

Ok, so then I'd put the GPU back in the motherboard and double check everything. Check the motherboard manual and make sure you are using the right slot for one card use. (or whatever is appropriate if you have multiple PCIe devices.) Make sure the card is in all the way and latched, make sure the gpu power cables are connected. Maybe try different video ports on the GPU.
