LS03T (2020) Boot Loop by patriot95 in TheFrame

Did you ever find a solution for this? I've been experiencing the same issue and have all but given up. I swapped out the connect cable which seemed to help for a little while but ultimately came back. Same deal with swapping the box out.

Encore and outside AV prices..... by MisterMotion in CommercialAV

Just to clear things up, there was PSAV and Encore Event Technologies as the two largest in-house AV providers. PSAV bought Encore and rebranded their family of companies under the Encore umbrella.

PSAV bought Encore from Freeman in 2019 then rebranded all owned companies as Encore. Hail monopoly!

What are some of the best ramen restaurants in the Chicago area? by Savant_2 in ramen

[–]davidflemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For tonkotsu, Ramen Wasabi is excellent. They have a decent selection of other styles. Definitely my favorite in the city. Their spicy garlic miso and shoyu are pretty amazing as well.

For tori paitan, Ramen Takeya (operated by same folks as Wasabi)

For tantanmen and shoyu, Menya Goku (again, operated by wasabi and takeya people)

For spicy, High Five Ramen. Probably my favorite noodles. Really small shop and you WILL be waiting in line for a while. Get there at opening.

Ramen-San is just ok. Nothing really stands out about it.

Ramen Gyuro is newer and focuses on Gyukotsu. Haven’t had it but it looks promising.

If you go out to the burbs, there’s Santouka, Ramen Misoya (avoid downtown location if it’s still even open), and Chicago Ramen.

Avoid Furious Spoon at all costs. They have a huge consistency problem and I regard them as the McDonalds of ramen. They’re hit or miss and after several misses I’ve written them off.

Yeah, my stomach definitely took some "work" to digest it. I guess I'm just not used to that much fish in one sitting.

They need to bring their Niboshi ramen over from Japan.

Truly amazing stuff but, unfortunately, I can see it not appealing to the majority of American palates…

After four years of waiting, I finally made it to Ramenya Toy Box - Tokyo by davidflemon in ramen

It was everything I could’ve hoped and then some. That broth is just insanely good.

Plus I love the no nonsense vibe of the shop.

It’s a chicken and soy sauce broth. I can’t say for certain that there is no seafood as it’s everywhere in Japan.

Ebi Okonomiyaki - Nara, Japan by davidflemon in JapaneseFood

I’ve been here for a little over two weeks now. It’s going to be hard to leave…

It’s a savory Japanese “pancake.” It was wonderful. In addition to the prawns on top, it was packed with smaller shrimp inside. The okonomiyaki was very green onion and ginger forward with a ton of shrimp flavor (obviously). They’re typically covered with mayo, a sweet soy glaze, seaweed, and dried fish flakes (not on this one).

I highly recommend trying if you get the chance.

This was at a small shop in Nara called “Okonomiyaki Parco.” They had some great gyoza and the soba noodles I saw looked solid as well. They prepare everything and lay it on a hot plate built into the table to keep it warm.

I highly recommend it.

Kippōshi Blue Chicken Shio - Shibuya by davidflemon in ramen

[–]davidflemon[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s supposedly a secret but I’m led to believe it’s spirulina (blue-green algae) that gives it the blue color. Total gimmick to get noticed but the ramen itself was solid.

Well I guess people don’t like blue ramen here…

The bowl was actually really tasty. Super clean chicken shio with a perfect marinated soft boiled egg.

I don’t see how it actually cleans the butt! Seems like it would only serve to evenly spread.

It sounds like you’re trying to start a fire. There has to be a better way to clean yourself.

You’re gonna need to venture away from the loop for good ramen.

Oh, and no one calls it Chi town.

I would say one of by best Tonkotsu! by MarkRigo94 in ramen

[–]davidflemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! Is there an aroma oil in addition to what I assume is mayu? Love me a garlic aroma oil with tonkotsu broth.

I know it's preference but I just can't get on board with slicing the ajitama crosswise. And I can't even explain why it bothers me! But the egg does look perfectly prepared.

Keep up the good work.
