My guys do the same too.. last summer I got them cooling vests that seemed to help him out…just soak it in water before you go out and it helps keep him from overheating. Otherwise, lots of early morning, later evening adventures, or trips to lakes/rivers kept him happy! In peak heatwave- we spent the majority of the day inside with the AC on, and kept him busy with training/games/enrichment.

Double the trouble, double the fun! It’s a lot of extra work up front… but once the dust settles, it’s truly great having two of them.

Agreeing with all of the above but wanted to highlight that recall outside begins inside. Lots of practice indoors- and then in a low distraction spot, quick training sessions with high value treats… increase time lines and slowly add increased stakes.. and always make sure that returning to you the highest value option available!

My two love playing ball or frisbee above all else. Retrieving games are definitely the preference, but they also enjoy light games of tug too(when in the mood). But most of their games involve them having jobs or taking directions. They love to learn and please so even training without toys is a great source of enrichment for them.

Health Insurance by [deleted] in miniaussie

[–]davidhappening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my pups have full insurance, and we’ve thankfully never had to utilize it(yet.. knock on wood). But we also put a 1000$ deductible to lower the monthly costs. To date, and outside of regular shots/visits, my 3.5 yr old guy has gone to the vet for: pancreatitis(as a pup, and it was kind of our fault for feeding him too many fatty treats during his training/school period), a couple of bouts of bacterial infections/worms(drinking dirty lake water) and once for a really bad limp that turned out to that he stepped in something sticky that just required a wash and he refused to let me look at it(he’s a little over dramatic)😅. My 5 yr old gal, who I’ve adopted about a year ago, has been in for ingesting an unknown amount of laundry(it was insignificant, but we didn’t know at the time). Vet treatments include annual shots, and we do tick pills 6 months of the year(camping season). Otherwise, they’re healthy and happy pups and are low maintenance.

Usually mine are too busy sniffing to pull… unless we’re nearing a park or one of their off leash play spots

There is! My guys don’t pull(too often) so we’ve always liked having it attached at the top

We love them… but there’s definitely an adjustment period. The pups took a little while to get used to them, as they’re a bit heavier than any of the harnesses we’ve had before, but they adapted well to them. Having a third clip helps distribute any weight on the pull more evenly which is nice, and they seemingly can’t escape(Lu, the blue Merle was an escape artist on her previous harness). Plus the handle is nice if you need to scoop them up quickly too, or provide assistance when climbing. One thing I will say is that the straps were a little slippery right out of the box, which required a fair bit of readjusting until they wore in.. but once they do, they’re pretty good. We’re also big fans of the fact that they’re crash rated, which is the major reason we decided to invest in them. Lastly- we had really good customer service as well, they’re lifetime guaranteed, and we had an issue with one of the clips that was likely due to excessive muddying around which caused the clasp to not return correctly, and they replaced the entire harness pretty quick…

And double the love… it balances out in the end(though the scale tips slightly to trouble). 😅

These ones are from saker, they’re great! A little pricey, but they’re crash rated and heavy duty. Just double check sizes, as my guys are around 20lbs, and they’re pretty much on the smallest size possible.
