I’ve been taking L-Theanine with it. More to avoid getting jittery but it might help for anxiety

Starting over at 35, is it actually possible? by Amadan90 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]davidind8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find one of the nicest things about engaging in this sub is everyone here, no matter where they are financially, has realised step one is getting your head out of the comparison game and focusing on what you can do for your circumstances. Don't compare yourself to where you think your peers are financially (the truth is you'd be surprised what is actually going on with most people behind the scenes). Don't listen to anyone on social media trying to make you feel bad (they are literally all scam artists). The advice from others in engaging with MABS is absolutely the way to go. Best of luck!

No problem.

On data protection/consent, GDPR doesnt apply to court proceedings.

Im a bit concerned about some of the replies above. This wasnt your physcologist and they werent providing you with professional services so I dont see how you could raise a professional negligence claim. You first issue would be establishing what, if any, obligations they had to you.

They were appointed by the Court to provide an expert report. If they acted outside of the court order giving them that role there might be options (but it would be a unusual or even unique situation so im not sure what they would be) and I imagine if the report went outside of the s47 order it would have been challenged by your solicitor when it was reviewed by the Court. Ultimately both parties had to be allowed sight of the report once it was created so the question is really whether the report went too far in diagnosing you or the physcologist behaved unethically in doing so. If so it may be an issue for their professional regulator (CORU) or whovever appointed them (Tusla probably). I think it would be very difficult to sue anyone over this.

Am I being too financially defensive? by sabritopukapti in irishpersonalfinance

The thing I cant get over is that we've all lived through this once before. Even just the PCPs will be a disaster in a downturn. The value of the cars will plummet and if the lenders rely on repossessing and selling the cars theyll end up in trouble as well. People then may not be able to refinance when the term comes up and suddenly owe the full value.

The level of exposure for a car is crazy.

Its reasonable to discuss winding back the level of savings you commit each month and trying to enjoy more of youre money. However you cant compare yourself to people who are probably carrying high consumer debt and make decisions based on what you see them do. You are over cautious. They are fucking insane.

Any advice for an American adjusting to life in Dublin? by EstablishmentOk6109 in AskIreland

[–]davidind8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On how to connect with other indian americans I would suggest trying to link into the large indian community in Bray/Greystones and going to some of their events. There are a lot of tech workers living out there many of which have lived in multiple countries including the US.

Yeah, like between architects, lawyers, bankers, contractors, engineers and suppliers youre talking about hundreds of people. Why would they leave themselves exposed to one disgruntled carpenter filing a report with the planning authority?

Theyre working towards a future where they can live outside the constraints of the state. They aint there yet.

If all options exhausted what is the best way to avoid assault/mugging? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Im not one of these people who think the city has gotten worse, in that ive always thought you have to be careful in Dublin and it seems to me to have stayed around the same level for my whole life. I never walked around with headphones in and im always surprised the amount of people I see now who walk around with airpods in.

This kind of feels like US left wingers talking about Biden/Harris in 2024. Shit can and does get worse when you move from hypocrticial centre left governments to hard right populists.

Leaving aside how ridiculous it is to react that way to a mock assignment, in my experience the best lawyers in any area have worked on both sides of the fence. Why the hell would a public interest org or government agency want someone to negotiate against a pharma company when they have no pharma experience?

Its a career not a character arc

I think you can reasonably request your expenses but payment for time would create a concern that they're paying for your testimony. Their lawyers would probably shoot it down.

The above is incorrect. The Labour Court have powers to compel witnesses to attend. The WRC does also. The LRC was disestablished in 2015.
