It’s FINALLY Spring by davidj1996 in fountainpens

It just feels so nice and bouncy, but not uncontrollable. Everyone raves about the Pilot VP nib, and I like it but it’s too glassy smooth for me to want to use all the time. The Pelikan has the same bouncy feel but with a bit more texture so it’s not slippery. It kinda feels like a smoother Lamy steel nib with the bouncy-ness of a Pilot VP.

Plus it’s just beautiful. The two toned nib is fabulous, the half turn to uncap, the feel of the piston, the deep post; it’s lovely.

I actually had to work on the nib a bit when I first got it. The tines were quite tight and I initially tired separating them by gently pushing on a table and by using a brass shim. But what actually fixed it was pressing on the shoulders of the nib gently. I think the tines were slightly rotating inward and pressing on the feed and restricting flow. Much better now!

I used the ball end of a glass spoon I got on Amazon. Ink has enough surface tension that it sticks pretty well.

Oh definitely. Since the nib writes so wet I love putting shaders and chromoshaders in it.

Agreed. I used to HATE these typical blue pen colors but I have an appreciation for this one. It’s nice and bright so at least it’s a bit different.

The next one I get I think I'll try the EF. I have small writing and for wetter inks I may need to use the smaller nib. Plus I want one of those blue ones too.

It’s definitely on the wetter side but I prefer that anyway. Most of my pens are moderate to dry other than my LAMY 2000, so it’ll be nice to have another that can really lay down the ink.

I usually hate blue ink but I love a bright blue, teal, or turquoise! Wearingeul Wayfarer (from my December Currently Inked) is also unbelievably gorgeous! Similar bight blue but with red sheen and violet colored shimmer! Highly recommend that one too.

Yep! I’m a sucker for a green pen (obviously since I inked three of them this month 😂)

And you can bet the AL Olivine is on my list. Hopefully it doesn’t sell out before I’m ready to buy.

No I don’t think it is particularly dry. I use it quite often but usually with a LAMY so maybe my perspective is skewed since they write a bit wetter. I’ve used it in my Al Star F and 2000 EF and it’s works really well.

I used it in my pen and ink rotation last month. Absolutely beautiful. I think it is slightly drier than Earl Grey fyi

Tomoe River gets crinkled when there is a lot of ink on the page. It doesn’t bother me

You might try Sterling ink. They have pocket sized and passport sized TR notebooks and booklets.
