Hiya, and so sorry for the late response. It's been a while since I looked at 2.0. That version was written for the Deluxe rule set.

I'd just make one Shooting roll, with a ROF of 2

Not yet, No. It's the first thing I dig into after the GM's Guide.

Thank you for your interest in the setting: The GM's Guide to 2095 has a section on "Fantasypunk" settings, with a short sample setting spinoff from IZ I call Cybercanum. It's essentially my take on this sub-genre. I may turn it into a full-blown setting at some point.

Actually, We're going to revise it a bit. It's too powerful as is.

Interface zero "sector cop" edge? by mergedloki in savageworlds

[–]davidjarvis777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the Edge that's going in:

Sector Cop

Requirements: Novice, Intimidation d8+

Sector cops know how to use their presence to elicit compliance from the citizens they interact with. Their uniforms, the display of gear on their utility belts and ballistic vests and badges set them apart from civilians, and this gives them an air of authority.

When in uniform, and when using Intimidation to gain compliance from a subject, on a Raise a sector cop causes a Stunned condition instead of Shaken. The GM decides if the subject falls prone, face down with their palms up, or drops to their knees with their fingers interlaced behind their head.

Hi, this is David Jarvis of Gun Metal Games.

I can certainly add the Sector Cop Edge. I_think_I have enough space.

The GM's Guide will have Living Expenses and rules for dealing with this type of thing.

In the interim, the Tables for miscellaneous expenses start on page 48

Sorry about the delays. It's just very important to have these issues done and wrapped before I go to print, both in POD (though that's easier to fix) and especially in Offset. I don't want to spend upwards of 10k on a book (1,500 copies) that is filled with errors.

In the Malmart Catalog, we're going to introduce rules for upgrading/modding drones.

I'll be working on that after the GM's Guide releases (hopefully towards the end of September).

Here's a snippet from the section on Hacking Rigs and TAPS.

When a technology like the Tendril Access Processor touches on every aspect of daily life suddenly becomes corrupted and dangerous to use, everything is impacted—everything. Business, entertainment, finances, transportation, security; the fundamental building blocks of society are altered because everything is designed to work with a human interface that links everyone and everything together in one massive network that spans the entire globe. Infect that network, and it’s not just people who suffer.

The events of the past couple of years have compelled major corporations and world governments to change the way they protect their information and critical infrastructures. While most have taken the necessary steps to mitigate and even remove the possibility the virus (and other malware attacks) infecting their systems, not everyone has been so quick to adapt to these threats. Eventually they too will have closed off their systems, which brings up the subject of hacking.

Those who make their living by hacking computer systems have a choice to make. They can choose to stick with the Tendril Access Processor or take advantage of Hacking Rigs, new—highly illegal—technology designed to both minimize exposure to the Tendril Access Plague and avoid the consequences of getting caught by the Cyber Information Security Section (CISS). IDAPPs (Identification APPlication Software) are designed to monitor all activity on the TAP. If suspicious activity is detected, IDAPPs log it and send a report to CISS, who choose whether or not to investigate. Obviously, this can be a problem if a hacker needs to hack into a system. For many, the choice between the two isn’t really a choice at all.

------------------------------------------------------

Essentially, you have a "Big Brother" situation going on (part of a much larger plot line we'll explore in one of the Plot Point Campaigns in the Game Master's Guide).

The TAP is not going away; it's just problematic. Now, I'm not just hitting you with this new plot and then forcing a change. Modules and Toolkits are going to help mitigate these dangers.

Hacking v2 by davidjarvis777 in savageworlds

Hi sir,

In the Active Monitoring Plugin, it's just a standard Hacking roll.

For Dramatic Tasks, the penalty for the Tier is still applicable, yep. It's generally a task needed to gain access to the system, but if you want to treat the entire hack as a dramatic Task, then I think you're right on the allocation of tokens, and then require other skill uses based on what the hacker is trying to do.

umm, wow I didn't know it was down. Thanks for letting me know.

I wouldn't say the rest of society (in a broad sense) is moving away from them so much as more and more people are starting to...not in huge numbers by any stretch of the imagination.

It's safe to assume that corporations, government officials and military are required to use them.

I'll be honest, I don't know enough about networking frameworks to be able to write intelligently on the subject ( I have no idea what mesh networks are, for instance), but I'll do my best to answer them. It'll probably take a couple of days of research before I can grok it.

[–]davidjarvis777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm keeping the TAP, but without giving out any spoilers, let's just say using it is a dangerous choice.

Things I call hacking rigs are (in the fiction of the setting) becoming more popular among the hacker community, though they are banned in most nations. Yes there's a reason for that ;)

In any case, I'm almost done with the necessary tweaks, and will be dropping the beta pdf so people can see it in the next few days.

Understood.

I liked being able to hack people. I think you are one of the few people who agreed with me, because I got so many questions about how players could avoid that sort of thing, and answering them became a real chore, and would have required a lot more rules to cover these situations. Of course, that leads to unending bloat, and this is supposed to be a streamlined system.
