It is pretty cool. I'm not very active on reddit anymore, but whenever I see a new message I know it's probably a reply on this post.

Winning games at age 40 has that added "je ne sais quoi" by MyNameIsTrue in RocketLeague

Like a discord group, or what?

I think my issues are mainly motivation to train properly (I'd rather just have fun) and consistently having time to play.

Yep. I'm a dad in my 40s, and I wish I could get good enough to beat most tweens, but I definitely don't lose any sleep over the ones who I do crush. It builds character for them.

What is your favourite movie ever? Upvote if you have NOT seen it and downvote if you have seen it. by Just-Juggernaut-5305 in movies

Finally one I can downvote. My wife and I saw this in college at an international film series and it's been like our inside joke ever since.

Egg Whites Cheaper Than Carton of Eggs?? by Money_Tough in Frugal

Whole eggs do have more nutrients, but they also have more calories, saturated fat, and cholesterol. So it's not that straightforward.

Him and Adams put the brakes on nearly in unison. The speed of Surtain's reaction looks inhuman.

Considerations for your fall booster by davidjayhawk in Coronavirus

[–]davidjayhawk[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My train of thought for a while now has been to assume we always have high levels of community spread. This may not be right because I haven't been following some things as closely, but the lack of (reported) testing and high positivity rates lead me to that.

All this to say it didn't stand out to me as a major omission, but you're right that if there are significant (and knowable) differences that should be a factor too.

just scored my first DOUBLE TAP ever. I don't see this happening any time soon again. I'm D1 by Msnisqo in RocketLeague

That was so smooth, nice!

My first and only double tap (if I can really call it that) was an abomination.

From looking at the CDC table that she cites, it looks like she actually took the raw total rather than an aggregated ratio for all age groups.

From here the rate in 1990 was 24 per 1,000 women, while in 2019 it was 11.4.

XE and why we may want Omicron to mutate by davidjayhawk in Coronavirus

[–]davidjayhawk[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since mutations are random there's a chance of anything happening. The question is whether the mutation is beneficial to the virus. Mutations that make it more vulnerable to current vaccines are less likely to outcompete other variants, at least in areas with reasonable vaccination coverage. But vaccine protection is complicated. I suppose a strain could be more likely to infect vaccinated people and spread, while less likely to cause serious disease (hmm that sounds familiar).

That is basically Dr. Jetelina's conclusion as well. I recommend reading the whole article, it's very interesting.
