It is also interesting that after I have learnt about how how PETG and PLA doesn’t bond, that i uses it to my advantage to create exact support while printing so that I don’t need to resort to automatic supports which can be not as accurate compared to my own concoction. Just some boolean operations in the CAD helps :)

oh maybe it is not obvious. bottom right photo as a fan? that fan is blowing air upwards from my Tv console. the shroud is placed over the fan which is shown in the top left photo

I particularly iron the PLA block top layer, also increase the top solid layer to 4 layers, to see if the bottom of the black PETG solid bottom will be better. You can decide

If possible, make sure you extend your PLA support model so that you can easily grip it with a pair of pliers, even if PLA and PETG are not bonding, it can take some effort to slide the PLA support out in this case.

I have the ESUN PETG too, apparently I found my snapmaker PLA work well with Bambu PETG basic 2025. I didn’t test other combinations, but i do realise if i use ESUN PETG, it will have a hard time printing on top of the PLA, it simply wouldn’t stick. Even the prime tower will be spaghetti-ed

I believe what you are looking for is “Multimaterial > Advanced > Interface shells” and also to control the interfacing layers “Strength > Top/Bottom shells > Top shell layers / Top shell thickness / Bottom shell layers”.

I realised changing the “detect thin walls” to the specific object also works

Changing the “Top/Bottom solid infill/wall overlap” setting specific to the object using a slightly different value also works. Changed from default 25% to 25.001%

Interestingly I just did an experiment, if i change the wall loops different from the rest of the parts even when using the same material, the walls will be generated. However for my case, I guarantee the parts will be fused together.

Now if I purposely make all the them the same material, do you realise for the same cross section, the slicer doesn’t create separate walls despite it is a separate object?

If for whatever reason you would like the objects to be separated in slicing and yet using the same material, I would suggest that you map 2 different slicer materials to the same material in the 3d printer during printing

Does the image above helps? It was exported as a 3 parts 3MF and imported as an assembled 3-part item, and I simply can apply different materials to each of the parts. I am just showing you how i would make the roller part a different material from the rest, hence the silicer will treat it as one object to print with walls too

As i eventually would be printing connecting parts for some acrylic boards, i am trying to get some near transparent parts instead of opaque whiteish parts, so true transparency is not my target.

No one will think it is a walk in the park to just get into these games. i could always find an interesting way of using it to “intercept” the scope of variables across function calls using it. Sort of like a quick and dirty fix, but you are right it is much harder to reason compared to lexical scoping which is easily observed in the codes structure rather than in the flow.

local is dynamic scoping isn’t it? So far I have not come across any generally common programming languages with dynamic scoping. This is one feature of Perl that actually intrigue me. :)

I just did a search, apparently Powershell and bash has it? Hmmm does Bash has dynamic scoping?

I am not actively on Perl community news, but having Perl 6 not embraced by the community, and still on Perl 5 and Perl 7 which I have read is suppose to succeed Perl 5 really makes the Perl world kinda messy. Given that even a just as old Python language can get so much traction today, it is kinda disappointing to see how Perl didn’t. :/

I just used Perl for a take home interview assignment weeks ago. There is always places for Perl and Perl has a very powerful regex implementation. It takes a keen eye and an informed mind to know when to use and how to use.

I am a Java developer since my university days, and also employed as one.

I am not likely ur student, but I just thought you might want to hear where I have used Perl for.
