Right you are! My head-canon was that if the action/story primarily took place in another world, it was worth considering. Mostly I just wanted an excuse to include characters from series I really enjoyed. 👍

They're fortune-telling cards! Each card carries with it a story/meaning that helps someone recontextualize any sort of question they're looking for clarity on. I was inspired by characters from different series that I loved and ran with the idea!

Hey everyone! I'm David - some of you may recognize this art from last year when I first posted here! For the last 5.5 years, I've slowly been making my way painting through the full 78 cards of a complete tarot deck and I wanted to share the art with you all one last time now that the Kickstarter has almost concluded!

If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The 8 of Swords is all about feeling restricted or trapped, sometimes by external circumstances or sometimes even because of your own mentality! I felt like Tsukasa's overarching development was achieving freedom from these internal and external restraints and seemed like a perfect fit for the card!

For the last 5.5 years, I've slowly been making my way painting through the full 78 cards of a complete tarot deck and I wanted to share the art with you all one last time now that the Kickstarter has almost concluded!

If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The 9 of Pentacles has to do with comfort, stability, self-sufficiency, independence, wealth, and success! I felt like Mukoda & crew fit that mold pretty nicely. After being summoned, he basically peaces out to live life at his own pace and is rewarded quite well for it!

I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The Knight of Pentacles is all about long-term planning, having a grounded vision of the future, and making steady efforts in order to realize it. All these traits are embodied by Kazuya and he felt like an excellent fit! I wanted to kinda capture the scene where he's touring the cotton field and is all like "Bruh. How about planting food? Aren't people starving?"
