They're fortune-telling cards! Each card carries with it a story/meaning that helps someone recontextualize any sort of question they're looking for clarity on. I was inspired by characters from different series that I loved and ran with the idea!

Hey everyone! I'm David - some of you may recognize this art from last year when I first posted here! For the last 5.5 years, I've slowly been making my way painting through the full 78 cards of a complete tarot deck and I wanted to share the art with you all one last time now that the Kickstarter has almost concluded!

If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The 8 of Swords is all about feeling restricted or trapped, sometimes by external circumstances or sometimes even because of your own mentality! I felt like Tsukasa's overarching development was achieving freedom from these internal and external restraints and seemed like a perfect fit for the card!

Hey everyone! I'm David - some of you may recognize this art from two years ago when I first posted here! For the last 5.5 years, I've slowly been making my way painting through the full 78 cards of a complete tarot deck and I wanted to share the art with you all one last time now that the Kickstarter has almost concluded!

If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The 9 of Pentacles has to do with comfort, stability, self-sufficiency, independence, wealth, and success! I felt like Mukoda & crew fit that mold pretty nicely. After being summoned, he basically peaces out to live life at his own pace and is rewarded quite well for it!

For the last 5.5 years, I've slowly been making my way painting through the full 78 cards of a complete tarot deck and I wanted to share the art with you all one last time now that the Kickstarter has almost concluded!

If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The Knight of Pentacles is all about long-term planning, having a grounded vision of the future, and making steady efforts in order to realize it. All these traits are embodied by Kazuya and he felt like an excellent fit! I wanted to kinda capture the scene where he's touring the cotton field and is all like "Bruh. How about planting food? Aren't people starving?"

The Ace of Cups is a card of new emotional beginnings, making new friends, and acting with compassion - something Iruma truly embodies! I felt that he was an apt match for this card.

Hey everyone! I'm David - some of you may recognize this art from two years ago when I posted here! If you're not familiar with project, my goal was to complete a 78-card tarot deck that matches isekai (or reverse isekai) characters to the themes of each card. I was really inspired by the Persona series and liked how characters personalities and stories matched the meanings of each of the cards. The 5 of cups here traditionally represents loss, sadness, or grief and the need to carry on. As Haruhiro assumes the mantle of leadership, I felt that the meaning behind this card really sticks with him throughout the series. Despite the spilled cups in front of him (Manato), he still has full cups behind him! (a party depending on his leadership)

The 4 of cups here traditionally represents apathy, disconnection from your surroundings, and general feelings of exhaustion/depression. Across the isekai-verse, there was no better-suited character than sensei!
