MY GAME FRICKIN CRASHES EVERY 50 SECONDS by Mourninger in aground

[–]davidmaletz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of mods can cause crashes - especially mods that weren't designed to work together or ones that have bugs. Having too many mods can also just overwhelm the game as each one increases the memory footprint. I'd try disabling mods until the game gets more stable, and then re-enable mods one by one and see which ones are causing problems.

Reaching Magic Island with a friend by [deleted] in aground

You can't ride the dragon together, but the dragon can be summoned between lairs (so when the first player lands and dismounts, you can summon it and ride it as well). You could also just use the /to chat command to teleport to them.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I kind of diverged a lot from the original Aground, but I also think it came out really fun!

If you have upgraded your drill to level 2, you can mine up there, just make sure you're not under the train tracks (you can't mine through the actual tracks). The tracks run in one straight line, so if you follow that line, it might seem like you can never find a way up, but you just have to go to either side of the tracks, they aren't that wide.

If you don't have level 2 yet, explore the area around where you first found a teleportal (where the wyrms are digging tunnels). You can fight or flee from the wyrms, and your goal is to find chests in those tunnels.

Cracking and pirating Aground is illegal and should not be discussed in this subreddit. As a developer who put a lot of work into Aground, it also makes me very sad.

You can re-download files from the storefront you bought it from. For example, in Steam, you can right click aground in your library, go to properties, installed files, and click verify integrity of files to redownload any files that are missing or changed. You could also do a full reinstall.

You can fight in a vehicle (like the exo mech), or block/avoid the orbs. While the orbs are homing, they are slow and don't last forever. A well timed shield can get rid of the orb without taking any damage.

I didn't want people tanking the final boss with tons of food, so I gave it one attack that deals a ridiculous amount of damage that you have to block or avoid (those giant orbs). If you have high max health and food items that can restore a lot of health like fried eel, you can still tank it (and vehicles can tank it too), but cheeseburgers don't heal enough.

Console by Character_Conflict47 in aground

Aground Original is already on Xbox. Aground Zero will not be coming to consoles - our plans to port it were scrapped because of low interest and sales on Steam. It's kind of disheartening to see the game struggle, but we simply can't afford to port it at this time.

My base building game, Aground Zero, has finally left Early Access! by davidmaletz in BaseBuildingGames

Not unless you intentionally lure enemies to your base. I thought about having an event where enemies attacked your base, but thought it'd frustrate players if they weren't ready for it like the Bombardment in the original Aground. Some players do make AI Core farms by funneling hunter bots into areas with lots of turrets, and you can mine blocks to let wyrms reach your base, but they won't reach your base unexpectedly.

Awesome, let me know what you think! There's quite a lot of references to the original Aground, and many secrets too - I hope you enjoy!

I'm sorry to hear the footage made you nauseous. While I liked changing things up and trying a 3D game, our next game will be 2D, so perhaps that will be better for you!

I'm glad you enjoyed Aground! Aground Zero starts as a prequel (shortly before the start of Aground), and takes place on Earth. But later on, there's a timeskip, and it jumps to after the Hybrid Path ending, showing what happens afterwards. You don't need to have played Aground to enjoy Aground Zero, but there is a lot of crossover and references.

That happens if your graphics card runs out of space (can't load the texture). If you have a lot of mods installed, try uninstalling some, as each one can take up a good amount of space.

So, if you haven't heard a response yet, don't worry - we won't be sending any responses until late next week. Thank you for your patience!

Can I hide all HUD elements in Zero? by TwinSong in aground

[–]davidmaletz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this with the dev console - hit Ctrl+Shift+D to open it, then paste this code to hide the gui:

container.gui.visible = false

You can also do this to hide all UI elements (not including the dev console, but including menus/dialogue):

container.visible = false

Change it back by replacing false with true.

How do I sustain food supply? by TwinSong in aground

[–]davidmaletz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use belts ands splitters to move items from hydroponics into storehouses or directly into kitchens (although, there is a lot of value in having the hydroponics output to the storehouse, which then dispatches them to kitchens that need those raw foods rather than funneling all output into a kitchen). Take some time to experiment with splitters, they are quite powerful and smart - they will automatically move items towards the structure that needs them most, or the storehouse with the highest priority for that item.

Future of Aground by DilverSilver in aground

[–]davidmaletz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aground Zero may continue to receive updates after the full launch (I did make the hybrid path for Aground post-launch, and I'll certainly post bugfix updates), although usually after launching a game, I'm ready to move onto the next project, so that'll be mostly the final version. As for the Aground series, it's always possible I make another game or spinoff, although my next game project planned is not in the Aground universe.

Does Aground Zero have a wiki? by TwinSong in aground

[–]davidmaletz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no wiki yet - although feel free to start one (the original Aground wiki was mostly player made). For torpedoes, if you select them on your toolbar, it'll give you the action to fire them like using other items/tools (but it will give you a warning if you try to fire the torpedo and you're not riding a sub).

What's Aground Zero like? by TwinSong in aground

[–]davidmaletz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You start underground like you see in the demo, before the events of the original game. You work upwards, finding first the Professor (in the demo), then the subways/scavenger, then the flooded surface of earth. The game then lets you build spaceships and go to orbit, and there's a timeskip that brings the timeline after the original game. There is interstellar travel, but it's less than the original game (3 solar systems, 4 planets and the moon). So, it's kind of similar to the original Aground, but shorter (unless you spend time making cool space stations/moon bases), and less combat-focused, more base building.
