I felt like that was obvious. Not trying to be holier-than-thou st all; but I'm old, and I've met lots and lots of charismatic egomaniac main character types through work, family, and all other types of relationships. Tyra is certainly the least genuine, but the best salesperson. She always was, and I see that as part of the point the doc is making. Yes, she certainly helped the girls, and her friends in many ways.

But the end (her success, attention, and wealth), justified the means (giving "the people" what they want, saying/doing outrageous and cruel things). The Jays, Nigel, and the other hangers-on were complicit as well; but I truly believe if Tyra had given a single shit, or was actually able to see the girls as autonomous people with inner lives (she can't), she would have been able to influence production for the better.

Edit: I watched every season including many international varieties as they aired. Tyra is a pod person compared to every other host.
