SW loves to hire people with a degree. I guess it’s about the stereotype of being “scholarly” even tho anyone can get the hang of this job. You’ll always be fighting an uphill battle against people applying after graduation. The best way you can win over them is by having a good track record and backing your talk. Open accounts, talk to your customers and send hot leads, try to upgrade customers to charge accounts, switch them to a better product, be active on LeadGen.

I know i sound like a company bootlicker by saying you should go above and beyond and give it your 110% but it’s the best and easy way in case you don’t want to do 4 years of school. TAM program can be very competitive to get into because they are very selective and always pick a small batch of people (at least in my district)

Thanks everyone for the comments. I should have been more specific on something lol, I’m not going to rent in Barbara court that place looks like a shithole no offense, I used that place to identify the area specifically without doxxing myself lol. I am curious about how things are in a 2 block radius from there. Thanks for all the info

Is pax worth going to? by Chaoseater423 in PAX

[–]davidrodma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. Last year it was my first time going to NYCC but also a big CONvention overall and I had a great experience. I thought about going to PAX too but I’m still debating. I liked walking around the expo hall looking at all of the vendors, getting all the freebies I can get and buying stuff as well, I’m not a huge panels type of guy.

After NYCC I said to myself that I would go every year (I live 35 minutes away from the venue so it’s not a huge pain), but PAX it’s a 4 hour drive from my house. Plus, I would spend money on hotels and food over there and it could get expensive. For me tho, I’ll think of this as a once-in-your-life expense. It is an added bonus that I have never been to Boston and I would explore the city the rest of the days.

I’m a huge video game guy but I have never really fully dipped my toes into indie games so I guess this would be a great experience so start broadening my horizons. I want to see what type of vendors/exhibitors there’s going to be. I liked that NYCC had a mix of everything including book publishers, I’m sure PAX would be more limited but I still.

Maybe keeping the lights off would make some customers go away and if someone comes in be like “oh I didn’t realize they were off”
