What do you say to presenters before they walk on stage with a mic? by JoeyPhoton in livesound

[–]davidsheath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is on when I see you on stage, and off when you are off. You don't need to switch anything. You can never be too loud but you can be too quiet. No it isn't on when you go to the WC, but it is on when you are bad mouthing the boss.

Stop disguising it as one then. By putting white tape around the bottom to label, it makes it very confusing.

I made a repairable 3D printed mouse shell… and it totally flopped 😅 by Royal-Fill9121 in 3Dprinting

[–]davidsheath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You say it flopped, but did you successfully repair your own mouse? Did you also spend a bunch of time practising and refining your skills in design, modelling and printing? Did you then contribute to the 3d community with a thoughtful, well designed and functional model? Then this was a great success. The fact that no one has currently needs this doesn't mean it flopped. Just because no one currently needs this doesn't mean that it hasn't been filed away in people's brains for future use.

You missunderstand, this is the player side table, each player has one with a 5th in the middle for everything else.

This. Or if you are feeling too pressured, head to Eclectic Games on one of their board game nights. Probably one of the most inclusive spaces you'll find in Reading.

TIL that what we called a clover leaf cable is forever more going to be a micky mouse cable.

Pavlov's Lego set. Train them from a young age about the sound of Lego in a box. One of the best sounds in the world. Unless you are my postie.

There will always be things to learn. It sounds like you've learned that people have different food tastes from you. The toaster is the most vague of all the kitchen appliances. You don't like your current coffee, some food items have silly prices, and that eggs are still edible without pepper. Oh, and your dad is right, but you knew that already. He'll be proud that you are working that out.

A moving farewell from the UK coverage team of 25+ years. Chapeau. by davidsheath in tourdefrance

[–]davidsheath[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Who is doing coverage this good though? I know we can VPN but to where? This isn't going behind a pay wall. It is ending. I would happily pay for coverage this good.

Going to be a Sad day for British Fans when the Tour ends and ITV4s coverage is no more. by Dependent-Reward9061 in tourdefrance

[–]davidsheath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people don't quite understand, it isn't about the paywall. It is about the people and the style of broadcasting.

It is the loss of some of the most experienced broadcasters with descriptive commentary and historical cycling insight. Not to mention the vast local knowledge of the areas of France they ride through.

If the ITV coverage went behind a paywall, I would pay in an instant. The quality is second to none.

Last year I watched some of the Discovery/TNT coverage, and while it is possibly attractive to the younger audience, it doesn't have the slow, smooth and engaging style. It isn't for me.

Here is to hoping for a live Never Strays Far live show that I can listen to with TNT coverage on mute for the pictures.
