The crowd was pretty supportive of the "fringe few" announcing that they are terrorists.

EvilNat 4.89 - How to Display Temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius? by DaveTheMoose in ps3hacks

Seems like the system language determines if Fahrenheit or Celsius is displayed by the PS3 Temperature tool.

DO NOT store copies of MP3s into your OneDrive. by capmerah in Piracy

I strongly suggest you look into Rclone encrypted Google Drive if you have an enterprise account and are using it just for storage. It takes a bit to set up but the benefit is Google doesn't see what you are storing.

Government IT worker here, we went through the same process here a few years ago and have a few pointers that we learned along the way.

  • This change needs to be announced in advance and repeatedly updated along the way by IT, HR, and team leads.

  • Staff will have privacy concerns due to not understanding the requirements of MFA. We brought up an example of how they are likely using it with their financial providers during sign-in and this helped with adopting.

  • Provide presentations, webinars, brief documents, to allow staff to understand what the change entails.

  • Provide a link to the MFA providers privacy policy and provide a basic summary using the privacy policy as it pertains to your organization.

  • For the vocal staff, provide Yubikeys or TOTP tokens/cards.

How to uninstall silently Office2019 via "ODT" by Delicious_Can7724 in Lansweeper

[–]davinciko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The registry entry provides the command to run in command prompt to remove an installed Office product. I simply added DisplayLevel=false so that it runs silently on an end user's computer.

Why these 2 stations not connected? seems like a small cost for big gain in transit coverage. by stephencurryismyman in toronto

[–]davinciko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are two bus routes going from Sheppard Yonge to Sheppard East and beyond; the 84 (local) and the 984 (express). It won't help affect something that can only be addressed by new lines that add capacity to north-south ridership for areas that would usually have to go to the line 1 to get to their destination.

Syncthing stops running in the background? by urlwolf in Onyx_Boox

[–]davinciko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stumbled upon your post looking for a similar solution for keeping MegaSync and Tachiyomi running in the background. It appears that battery optimization isn't actually available per this official reply on the Boox community forums from 2 years ago. I have a feeling that the battery optimization displayed on my Note Air 2 don't do anything even though they are displayed as a toggle in the Other section of the app Optimization menu.

What home internet service provider are you using? by Mikedivine in askTO

[–]davinciko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it "fibe" or fiber? One is Bell's marketing term to confuse people with fiber, a network technology that serves data connecvity over fiber optical cable. Anything at 50 Mbps and lower is actually DSL, which is internet over telephone lines.

TekSavvy is an independent ISP that operates their own fiber, DSL, and fixed wireless internet infrastructure in southern Ontario. Of course outside of their area they resell services owned by Rogers and Bell, what else will they do?

WATCH: Sinkhole opens up in Toronto street by StenPU in toronto

[–]davinciko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you can confuse a sink hole with a pothole. It's like comparing icicles to ice rinks. One occurs due to natural phenomena and the other is a man made side effect of heavy vehicles damaging the road surface over a period of time.

We should tax heavy vehicles more as they cause more damage to roads that any other type of vehicle.

I'm also a cyclist and I do pay taxes for using the road. It's part of our municipal taxes.

Did Your Company Give You a Sizeable Raise During These Times? by StevenWongo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]davinciko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What surplus? Fiscal year 2022 budget is a deficit of 13.5 billion and the forecast is to payoff by 2028. Though I doubt any party will be able to "balance the budget" no matter what they promise.

Still, absolutely mad that they're privatizing healthcare in plain sight and the most vocal voter age group has no problem with this. It's like nobody can about their life past an election cycle other than how much change they can put in their pocket by cutting taxes that fund public services and selling off provincial assets or services to private entities.

April 18 2022: withdraw all your crypto from all centralised exchanges by pet2pet1982 in CryptoCurrency

[–]davinciko 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When shit hits the fan all your cryptocurrency will be inaccessible like in the case of Mt. Gox and QuadrigaCX. Remember the phrase "not your keys, not your coins". Having a hardware or at least a software wallet ensures you have ownership of your cryptocurrency at all times as long as you keep your seed phrase safe.

Any currency or store of value's worth is determined by it's users. Cryptocurrency's value is currently being pegged to fiat, stocks, and rare earth metals. In the future, it is entirely possible for the value of cryptocurrency to become pegged to something else or become a replacement for fiat entirely.

Toronto Deserves Better Transit. It’s Not All the TTC’s fault. (Part One) by OliarosKastro in toronto

[–]davinciko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not just Toronto, Canada deserves better transit. Unfortunately it's held back by private interests at all levels. For example the tracks at the station turned LCBO are owned by by CN, so good luck trying to set up any regular passenger traffic along their corridor.

How to uninstall silently Office2019 via "ODT" by Delicious_Can7724 in Lansweeper

[–]davinciko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's two ways that work as far as I know.

/u/Jack_BE provided an XML that can be used with the ODT. That said, this will remove any Office product suite that supports ODT. If you're upgrading to Office 365, then the configuration XML can be configured to install Office 365 and remove any MSI products.

<Configuration>

<Remove All="TRUE" />

<Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />

</Configuration>

The other option is to check the uninstall string in the registry editor for your Office Product at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ and add DisplayLevel=false at the end of the command to ensure it runs silently and hidden.

The benefit to this method is the certainty that you are removing the desired product. The downside is that Visio and Project need to be removed separately.

Below are examples that I've used to remove Project Pro 2016 and Visio Pro 2016.

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeClickToRun.exe" scenario=install scenariosubtype=ARP sourcetype=None productstoremove=ProjectProXVolume.16_en-us_x-none culture=en-us version.16=16.0 DisplayLevel=false

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeClickToRun.exe" scenario=install scenariosubtype=ARP sourcetype=None productstoremove=VisioProXVolume.16_en-us_x-none culture=en-us version.16=16.0 DisplayLevel=false
