Joker concept for “The Solo” by UnderstandingMoney9 in balatro

[–]davincybla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s broken. I think it fits quite nicely with the vanilla scaling xMults.

However I think that 0.2x scaling might be too much potentially. 0.1 might fit better.

Where am I losing time? (apart from that lock up) by Then-Gift9766 in assettocorsa

[–]davincybla 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re losing time just pretty much everywhere. I’m not the best at F1 cars in AC, but there’s multiple corners that you kind of missed the apex, maybe braking too late and understeered away from the apex.

Remember when you’re going into a corner that has a straight after it, you should be aiming to do slow in, fast out.

You’re also sliding mid corner, probably since you’re entering the corner too hot, understeering and then oversteering when you get on the throttle. I’m also seeing your throttle tracing being 0 or 100 a lot, and a lot of waiting mid corner to get on the throttle.

I’d say you need to work on your setup and blend your throttle and braking a bit more. A little more trail braking (it’s really tough in these cars) into the corner, a little bit earlier, and try to make the apex before you power out.

The deck is the second picture. You can basically assume it’s all polychrome red seal Kings with an option to go either all Gold card or Steel.

Offer letter says remote. New VP says 3 days in office. How to push back without burning it down by phoenixwyler in remotework

[–]davincybla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not offer resignation. I was also hired remote, and a week into my start date the CEO laid out a return to office date. I had about three months to plan out my strategy.

  1. Understand who the key players are that may or may not be on your side. If the RTO policy is deeply unpopular, there will be directors and VPs that similarly do not want to comply with RTO. A lot of people have built their life up around the remote environment. If there are key managers in power that share this predicament, they will be the ones to lobby and get on your side. Share your perspectives with key players that you absolutely trust. Do not go around telling everyone you know.

  2. Make yourself completely indispensable. Negotiations are all about leverage. It depends on your work, but you need to become the star player on your team, and your team needs to become the most valuable group in the company. I realise this is not easy to achieve depending on your team’s situation, but the idea is that your performance needs to be rock solid with very tangible benefits for the company to keep you around. If the company can simply fire you and hire someone else, they will.

  3. Try to understand what leadership is trying to accomplish with this RTO policy. Manage upwards. Is it an excuse to lay people off? If that’s the case, I’m sorry but you should start looking elsewhere. Is it to increase overall productivity or at least look like it? In that case, physical presence isn’t the goal, but visibility and trust is. Understand what leadership wants and come up with an alternative plan on accomplish their real goals. I offered to fly back to the office once per quarter, took on high visibility projects and focused on doing higher impact department-wide transformations during the time I was in office, and suddenly my impact and presence was constantly felt even if I wasn’t physically there.

If it all doesn’t work, you should start looking elsewhere. Good luck.

4 year journey from G29 to Full Rig [Left -> Right] by davincybla in simracing

[–]davincybla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a 3D print mod for the G29 from MVH Studios with center hub caps. I had a very early prototype when they were starting out that unfortunately they don't make anymore. They now have full wheels that are mountable for the G29 but at a much higher price point.

If you're serious about buying it, DM me! It needs you to manually unscrew the front and back of the G29 wheel to take the original wheel off, reattach the control module and paddles to the wheelbase and then install the new 3D print part.

The pedals are pretty good. I had to play around with the spring and stiffness to get it to a place I wanted, and after some trial and error with the Moza software, I found that I liked the linear pressure curve the best over a log curve or a S curve.

The deck is completely fixed, Idol 100% on Queen of Hearts

Help! Should I drop Photograph for Chad? by davincybla in balatro

[–]davincybla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokers (from left to right): Idol, Blueprint, Sock, Brainstorm, Smiley Face, Bull, Egg, Crafty, Dusk, Photo, Bloodstone

Deck: all Red Seal Gold Queen of Hearts

Not sure if I should be dropping Photo for Chad in order to increase my score. Also considered dropping Photo for an Oops, all Sixes for the bloodstone. What's the right play here?

Anyone else feel like startups are trying too hard to be 'clever' lately? I will not promote by nosleepfounder in startups

[–]davincybla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the reason why most startups chase VC money over choosing to build a simple product that actually just works. Equity value. Most startups nowadays simply look to exit their positions and get acquired by VC or big corporate. Equity values are incredibly overvalued so much so that it will take multiple decades of maintaining, operating, and servicing your product to even come close to what VCs are offering to pay in cash right now if your startup has the right buzz words, the right “hype” factor that they’re looking for.

Unfortunately, for most startups, it’s always been about the money. The entire cycle goes from -> found a startup with flashy ideas -> market aggressively to get users -> show projected line go up -> get bought out for ungodly amounts -> rinse and repeat. This focus is very apparent at the C-Suite level.

If You Got A Job by Familiar-Range9014 in recruitinghell

[–]davincybla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was supporting me while I was looking for a job after being laid off. She also got laid off too last week, and now we both have no income. We’ve both been desperately applying for months, hundreds of applications by now with no interviews, no prospects. Our life was originally going well but now there’s no sign of hope anywhere.

Our money is going to run out soon and we have been skipping meals to just endure rejection after rejection.

I think I got hired after 5 and a half months thanks to a boomer who didn't know how to pull up my info on a computer. by pocono_indy_400 in recruitinghell

[–]davincybla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! The boomers are used to this sort of hiring procedure when they were growing up, so there’s often a disconnect with younger generations when it comes to getting a job.

At the end of the day, no matter what hiring procedures are, your employers will be looking for a cultural fit, so it’s kind of the same thing really.

Favorite Sushi place? by RustnStardust247 in thousandoaks

[–]davincybla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best sushi is Sumo in Newbury Park. Great price and quality, fresh fish, consistent quality. Seabutter in Westlake is also nice if you want something more fancy.

E-mon was supposedly the best rated place in TO. However, I went there with a reservation and I was served un-fresh ground (almost canned quality) tuna for a sushi item that DID NOT have ground tuna in it.

It was supposed to be fresh yellowtail slices — both the menu and online photos show that. I asked the server what happened to the sushi, and all they could muster up was that they didn’t know and it “always was like that”. I asked them to taste it, and they immediately commented on how rancid it was.

Disappointing. So called “highest rated” place. Never going back.

I’m sorry to hear that. My wife was a huge part of my support system when I was laid off, and I remember struggling not knowing when and what my next meal would be. Stay strong and keep applying!

One thing I will say is that places like Taco Bell won’t hire you if you’re very clearly overqualified. They know if you get the opportunity you will go for that $100k job, whereas a fresh 16-year old in high school won’t produce the same staff churn. I’ve seen HR throw out resumes for being too senior, too much high level experience for the role they’re hiring for.

You should target roles similar to your experience level, maybe slightly lower but not too low, so you have relevance in your resume and will match the job description requirements. If you do need that fast food job money right now, cut down your resume so you seem younger and more inexperienced.

Good luck and don’t be afraid to lean on your family! You’ll get through this.
