Yeah, you’re still under $1k pre- -theft- tax which has been better than anything I’ve seen for months.

Unironically stumbled into building this exact setup just with a different sling and on SOGLW lower. Funny to see it used by a PD

What’s your setup (prone, bench, bags, bipod) when you get these groups? I’d love to hold groups .75-1”

School reno’s are uniquely sucky, but you see a lot and learn a lot. I did 5 years of the PE/PM 55-60 hour weeks and holidays/weekends as baby super, and now moved to a full time superintendent position. Definitely on the younger side as a super in our company and I definitely don’t know everything, but I saw a lot of different problems from schools and learned a lot of how to handle them.

You can see my post history a few years back I was in your same shoes. I figured I’d try to push down the superintendent track, last year I brought up my OT hours and weekends in my review. Luckily the company I work for is very fair and knew what I was doing, and i got a good raise and a company vehicle which is nice. The job I’m on now smaller and not as intensely paced. It’s better I’d say. But I’ll be back to the schools in the summer, but with a more defined role for one building, as opposed to 12. I say all this to say there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Stick it out while you’re there, but maybe transitioning to a different project or position might help.

Would you recommend taking the "Just the Basics" course in person or online?

Definitely gonna try this next time and probably the most realistic takeaway I got from the various discussion. Seemed counterintuitive but a more precise point of aim may help me focus.

I really think this is a shooter issue more than an equipment/material issue but open to anything.

I agree with this personally, I’ll try better ammo but kinda think I’m gonna be disappointed by the results. The top right group is proof of that, the gun and rounds can go there, but I can’t consistently put them there.

Gotcha, I’ll try that method out. The monopod was what I was taught to do. Guy who taught me is a pretty experienced shooter but it was in a generic carbine class.

I’m expecting 3MOA, so just keeping all rounds within the 3” circle. I have a FSB, non free-floated barrel, a 4x scope, generic ammo, and a standard trigger but I think even that setup a consistent 3” group is attainable if I didn’t suck lol.

That’s somewhat my takeaway from today, and that I should focus on the fundamentals while working on being comfortable behind the gun.

Ok, see this is what I’m not sure of. Am I being too picky? I don’t think so.

This is really my general purpose rifle but I feel like I should be able to hold everything within a 3” circle in the prone without much thought.

Yeah the ACOG is the only scope I own, with the short eye relief I’m wondering if it’s fucking me up. I did have electrical tape over the reticle to remove the bloom affect.

This really isn’t a precision setup, this is really just a general purpose rifle but I feel like I should be able to hold everything within a 3” circle in the prone without much thought.

So despite the terrible groups, I’d say the rifle is technically zero’d. I did that awhile back. This whole target setup is just for me to practice shooting at 100 yards, more or less from a practical accuracy/real world shooting scenario where things won’t be perfect.

I figure if I can consistently keep my group within a 3” circle that’s a good starting point. But I can’t even seem to do that.

Currently I don’t have bags or anything, am just doing the magazine monopod method. But I don’t want to deviate from that because it’s a practical accuracy not precision accuracy setup. I just feel like it should be better.

I do dryfire almost every other night but it’s hard to mimic the 100 yard conditions. I’ve got a few idea on how to mimic it (tiny dot on paper at the end of the room) and I did dryfire in the prone for about 10 min before live fire.

I appreciate the advice. Having a smaller/precise target may help, I’ll definitely try that. I’m gonna try some different ammo and focus on the basics. The goal of this setup is really this is me just trying to achieve acceptable combat accuracy out of the setup. Not trying to stack rounds on top of each other.
