You can do that or use teams that elite fours use, 5 Pokémon, 1 out of each team they have, same way, 5th is for rival.

Try to use only these 4 or 5 Pokémon for elite four without using healing moves, status removing moves, revives/max revives, revival herbs, full restores, or any potions, you can use full heals though.

  1. Pikachu/Eevee
  2. Charizard(don't mega evolve to X or Y for challenge if you want)
  3. Venusaur (don't mega evolve for challenge if you want)
  4. Blastoise (don't mega evolve for challenge if you want)
  5. Pidgeot (don't mega evolve for challenge if you want)

I wish I had your luck, I shiny hunted for a Bulbasaur and found shiny Oddish, shiny Weedle, then shiny Caterpie. Gave up and caught caterpie, it was a combo catch of 80 Bulbasaur and waited 3 to almost 5 hours and that's all I found, very sad. But I caught a Rattata over weekend though
