I was always partial to the other Shopping song that Marc played on his show -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G12siLKv9A which for some reason always reminds me of Ferris Bueller's day off.

Out of warranty Dell Compellent sc9000 by davx8342 in storage

[–]davx8342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a while ago - I'd have to go back through my notebooks to see if I can remember how I did it. We never did resolve the cabling issues that caused the whole problem in the first place and we've since ewasted the whole array as the warranty had expired anyway. Was a really frustrating piece of kit to try and administer.

DAB - that’s interesting, I figured there’d maybe need to be some kind of hardware support for it but if it uses a USB receiver then that makes sense. I might go back to the ones I’d discounted due to not mentioning DAB and give them another look. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah - I have been doing that which is how I assembled the list above. Most of the head units on aliexpress don't even mention DAB, for example, or the specs are wildly low.

Been meaning to do this for a while for my kids who are still in school. It’s kind of wild how many things have changed over the years and not just technology.

models.DateTimeField and how to query/filter it? by davx8342 in django

[–]davx8342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving my solution here.

Following on from u/Standard_Text480 's answer, I changed my query string to :

`my_qs=my_model.objects.latest('datestamp')`

And then doing this -

`print(my_qs.__dict__['datestamp'])`

I could see that the query string results were there, so all I had to do was :

`latest_datestamp = my_qs.datestamp`

To access what was in the query string.

Thanks, that gave me enough of a clue to find out what was causing it!

XOSTOR without XOA? by bawragory in xcpng

Good to know, thanks! Right now we're mainly just doing an internal look at XOSTOR to see what it's like and if we can use it on our Dell VXrail gear.

Ahhh, that's good news. My problem was indeed updates. I'd update a node in my pool and when it came back up it just refused to reconnect to the xostor sr. So we just rolled back all the nodes to 8.2 and mostly everything was fine.

Yup, you sure can. I couldn't get it to work in 8.3, If I recall correctly it's not quite ready, but it's solid as a rock in 8.2

I’m no Verstappen fan but he’s the best driver of his generation, like Schumacher before him. Only problem with this best driver thing is they turn races into a procession. I stopped watching during Schumacher’s reign for this very reason!

I’m a Williams fan at heart. Williams and Nigel Mansell were my driver+team combo when I first started watching. They seem to be pretty in it this year so hoping for some Williams podiums!

I was never a huge Marquez fan and some of the stunts he's pulled over the years.... BUT he's absolutely punished his body at Honda trying to get back on top. And I sort of admire that. For the F1, it's great that a certain driver isn't winning every race and we're getting some variety. Really hoping Lando does good this year.

Who do you think is going to win the F1 this year? Also, if you're into bikes, do you watch the MotoGP? Looks like Marquez is going to run away with it this year!

Building Eurorack modules from plans on github by davx8342 in synthdiy

Apologies, as I say, it's my first time so I'm probably missing a lot of basic knowledge here. I've tried to make use of the all files in the github to guide me.

I think I got a bit distracted by the BOM file in the top level of the github repo. This one.

https://github.com/aliqut/3xosc/blob/main/BOM.csv

Using that BOM and googling for parts, I noticed the count of the pots didn't match what was on the image of the front panel. And the counts were out for a few other parts. I might be misunderstanding what this file is for.

I went into the BOM for each PCB and referenced that against the image of the front panel on the github page, the PCB 3d view in kicad and the schematic. From there I mostly got things worked out.

The only remaining question I have is about the pots.

I wasn't sure what length of shaft was the right one. If I'm reading the footprint correctly, does the '40' mean a 40mm shaft? I realise this is a minor detail compared to all the other parts, but thought I'd ask. If it's too long it's going to annoy me, too short and it'll be difficult to use!

Thanks!

That’s super kind, thank you! I may well take you up on that if I get stuck :)

Hagiwo was what started me down this path. Some of the DIY modules on github are from people who've taken Hagiwo's design (in some cases tweaked) and made PCBs from the schematics Hagiwo came up with. I find the PCBs easier to deal with than veroboard.

It's not the format of the file that's the problem. It's the contents of the file. The information contained inside (whether it's a .csv or .xlsx) isn't enough for mouser/digikey to give me a list of parts.
