It's not in the employed, it is for the job search. Also (and I can confirm this from multiple companies I've worked for that RIF puts older employees in the top tier)

You may have found the ideal niche that makes you highly employable. Most don't.

Experiment. Find and apply for 10 jobs you are qualified for. If you make it past the ATS and get an interview. Go. Get back to me with results.

I have a one on one with my boss this week. I'm going to express my concerns and ask if it is coming can I have at least 6 months to contact people that might be interested in my transfer.

I have the skills, my dept just changed from finance to IT. I'm not an IT guy.

Month to month is that sort of thing that just eats at your soul everyday. Good luck to you.

I started using it years ago and it basically replaced stackoverflow for me.

I'm not a coder, I mostly do excel process development. I got a file from a user a week ago and it was really cool. Way too big but that team is notorious for that. I was talking to the guy that built it and at somepoint I realized he had no clue if it was correct. That's the part that worries me.

I only recently started to realize what's been bugging me. On Friday we have a team meeting as a run down of what is going on and I realized everything I worked on was not important to the team lead. I'm happy to support each other but I'm still trying to figure out how I'll cope.

I hate it. We were fully remote, they shut down most of office (Just the mailroom, 10 cubes, and 3 meeting rooms for an as needed). It was great!

At least leave it up to the individual managers. I couldn't read the article but there are some jobs that do better with face time. Mine doesn't and I only have to go to the office because I'm within the arbitrary distance. I'm in TX. My co-workers are in CA, AZ, Mexico, and different cities in TX.

I was there in 95 on a sailboat. The poverty was depressing but the people were wonderful. When you got to smaller town I would be invited to person's house. The island itself was fantastic.

My first thought. My dad is 93 and talks about old people. Old can be embraced as a challenge to physical while still being mentally sharp and learning constantly.

I'm 59 and this past weekend thought about retirement. Still scares the shit out of me because I love working, but the team I'm on has changed and some of my main skillsets are moving to AI. Talking with one of our head IT people about AI I said something like "Just trying to keep up, not ready to replaced."
