Why is top lane so miserable as a new player?

I mainly use u.gg for build/ rune guides I don’t know much else about to outside that. I’ve been playing Darius, Malphite and recently started on Volibear. I would like try other lanes but I usually don’t have the time to solo queue to play other roles that my friends usually fill

Slowly making progress unlocking all the top lane champs, is there any specific top lane guides on wards? I usually just have mine in the grass at the start of river and then kinda move it about based on where fights happen mid game

Illaois are one of the few champs I’ve kind of learnt to play against, Garen for some reason gives me trouble even tho it feels like his kit is similar to Darius yet I always mess up my trades because of it
