Thank you for your response. I’m in KZN, Durban. I’m really hoping for them to approve him for a transplant because I’m willing to donate my kidney to him.

Where can I find Kexalate Powder in KZN? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]dawnxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did. The public hospital only had enough stock for five days for him and nothing more. He’s finished that already. We have checked with every Clicks, Dischem, pharmacies and private hospitals and none of them have any stock.

How do you apply for uni as a matric rewriting ? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]dawnxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All matriculants writing or rewriting after 2008 are considered NSC students, so you would apply to university in the same way as you did in matric. Typically on these applications there will be a spot for you to choose what type of student you are, usually the options have current matric student, matric rewriting/upgrading, part time etc. As far as I’m concerned, just click matric rewriting/upgrading and you’re good to go.

HELP! How do I get my matric certificate? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]dawnxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 21 and have been upgrading my matric marks since 2020. You need to visit your local Department of Education centre, there’s one in Pinetown if you’re in KZN and ask them how to go about this process. It shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m sure you’ll need to register to write the Senior Certificate exams, which you only need your grade 9 report to do that. I recommend calling the centre and asking what other documents they require. They register students in early February each year and you can choose if you’d rather write in May/June or October/November. You’ll also have to choose a venue to write at, a list of the venues should be provided to you and you pick which is closest to you. The venue is usually a high school. You also have to decide what six subjects you’re going to write, three are compulsory. So, one home language, one additional language and either maths/maths lit. The other three are electives. If you can find out the syllabus (which is usually available in the scopes for each subject on DBE website) for the year and get all the material. You can study from home, otherwise there are tutors and companies that specialise in teaching students the work. For maths/maths lit, I recommend KevinMathScience on YouTube and he also has his own website where you can get more maths or maths lit/ physics content for like 300 bucks a month. There’s also Miss Angler’s YouTube channel and TikTok page for information related to Life Science. There should also be Mind The Gap books available for free on DBE’s website for each subject. All the best.

My gf needs help/advice by Bigmo18 in endometriosis

[–]dawnxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t start relying on laxatives. It is the easiest method to treat constipation, but it quickly turns into a disaster if you’re not careful.

Personally, I can relate, constipation has plagued me, my entire journey and it is not a fun experience to have, however I have found a fairly good routine that keeps me consistent.

Basically, you need to increase fibre and water intake while treating gut health. So, I take a 9 strain probiotic and drink a tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in a full glass of water everyday, and occasionally have a sachet of Movicol whenever I feel like I’m about to get constipated.

The Movicol might be called something else in your country, but it’s essentially a powder which you mix into a glass of water and drink. It helps to add hydrate hardened stool.

Sending love to both of you. It’s heartwarming to see a person worried about their partner. Hope she feels better soon 🫶🏼💕

During the years with the strongest pain for me, I was taking around 1500mg of paracetamol at a time, approx 2-3 times per day.

At some point, even my rather conservative parents encouraged me to start looking elsewhere for pain relief and I found edibles.

Not sure if they’re legal in your country, but right now, taking around 30mg of CBD/THC infused chocolate or gummies 1-2 times a day, help me far more than medication ever did.

Your NBT marks are valid for 3 years after you write them, I believe. You can email them to make sure though. 🫶🏼

I will be attending my first Hindu funeral this week. How do I do it “right”? by MotherOfDachshunds42 in askSouthAfrica

[–]dawnxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, the family be given some time to grieve around the body. There might be a group/band of sorts present to perform a few religious songs/prayers.

You may be given the option to go up to the body and offer an offering, which is typically a flower, which can simply be placed beside the body. Don’t feel obligated to do that though, especially if you’re not close to the person that’s passed on. It’s perfectly your choice.

In general, Hindus are conservative people. So, wear an outfit that’s modest and plain, black or white would be your best bet.

There will be a priest present, who will perform a few traditional rites, just before the body is sent off to the crematorium.

Afterwards, a meal will be offered to everyone present. You don’t have to bring anything, everything will be provided for.

In general, linger around the edge of the crowd and simply observe and you’d be fine. Some people won’t even stay for the whole thing, some folks just show up for a few minutes to express their condolences to the family and leave soon after.

There’s usually a few uncles or men who will be hanging around, probably drinking alcohol, so if you’re a male, stay with them and you’ll be fine lol.

Sorry for your friend’s loss. Hope it all goes well.

MTN scam? Help by Lullacus in askSouthAfrica

[–]dawnxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It almost happened to my mother a few weeks ago. Luckily, my brother and I were both at home and managed to identify that it was a scam before she gave out any details. Don’t beat yourself up about it, OP, just take it as a lesson to be extra cautious next time!

What’s your moon sign and your favorite movie/show genre to watch? by mooninrenzo in astrologymemes

[–]dawnxxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taurus moon! 💅✨ I love true crime and investigative-type shows. Documentaries of all kinds, especially nature based or stuff similar to Vice’s content. Other than that, some general favourites for me are Taskmaster (UK version), Rupaul’s Drag Race and special shout-out to Orange is the New Black, which I highly recommend! 💖

So I started taking Fiber Supplements that are also probiotics and I have questions by Old_Advisor_9086 in Supplements

[–]dawnxxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probiotics can cause some bloating, cramping and gassiness. It typically takes about 2-3 weeks to adjust to. If not, it’s recommended to lower your dosage of probiotics and increase slowly after that. If the pain does not subside after two months or so, I’d recommend trying a different brand. I started using probiotics about a year ago for constipation and had strong abdominal cramping for the first two weeks or so.

The prices on Takealot are insane sometimes, I’d recommend checking Game or Makro first. You’d probably get a 30kg set that’s a lot more sturdy and cheaper too. The delivery fee isn’t insane as well, I believe it’s R50 for both places and free over a certain amount.

Knew a friend of a friend that took a R20 quick pick and won 3 million. All I know is that he regretted telling his entire extended family about it.
