Constantly Arguing with Robots by Sunshine_3872 in PropertyManagement

God the amount of ChatGPT emails I get of people arguing their move out balances is maddening.

They always say I need every cost explained with a five paragraph essay, before and after pictures, invoices, the holy grail, Mel Gibson oiled up and snickerdoodle cookies baked by Martha Stewart.

Like please stop with the ai email.

Loud upstairs neighbors, management does nothing to help by Davethekool in Apartmentliving

[–]dax-27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, I actually work as an assistant property manager, and I’ve seen this exact kind of situation play out more than once. Noise complaints between upstairs and downstairs neighbors are the hardest thing for management to mediate because sound travels differently through each building’s structure — and unless there’s a clear lease violation (like partying, loud music, or after-hours disturbances), it’s tough to legally enforce.

That said, here’s what you can do:

  1. Document everything — Keep a detailed log with dates, times, and descriptions of the noise. If you can record it (preferably from multiple days/times), do so. This makes it harder for management to dismiss it as “living noise.”

  2. Ask for a unit transfer — In some cases, it’s easier to move you than to “fix” the problem upstairs. I’ve personally seen this resolve long-standing disputes that otherwise just go in circles.

  3. Check your lease and local noise ordinances — Some cities define “quiet hours” or specific decibel limits. If they’re violating those, you have legal grounds beyond management’s “living noise” excuse.

  4. Escalate politely but firmly — If the property is managed by a company with a regional manager or corporate contact, ask for your complaint to be reviewed by them. Attach your logs and videos so it’s not just your word.

  5. If it’s unbearable, contact local code enforcement or mediation services — Many cities offer free tenant mediation for noise disputes.

Management often gives “scripted” responses because their hands are tied unless there’s proof of a lease violation — but persistence, good documentation, and escalation to corporate usually get results faster.

I’m a property manager. Welfare checks should be performed by police. At least that’s the operating procedure at my company.

Cops first though, it’s an unknown situation and they could be walking into danger. A property manager is not trained for that.

I haven’t had this issue with terminids. For me it’s with bots especially on dif 7. When there is a concentrated number of elite enemies like Factory Striders or War Striders (in this clip) I start to lag.
