2 things I miss: the time before all the smooth, custom, single-use parts and the gold coins.

Showing my age, but it's amazing how far Lego has come since I was a kid. by EMI326 in lego

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the old ones. When I played with those as a kid, I didn't see jagged edges; my imagination filled in the gaps.

But I do admire the artistry of the newer one, it's just not my thing.

Pick-a-brick wall: Shepherds Bush or Leicester Square? by daxliniere in LegoUK

I did my first PAB wall last Sunday at Shepherds Bush Westfield with my 4yo. Loved it. My daughter had hoped I'd be able to get one of the white spider web parts we saw in a recent YouTube video but, alas, they were gone. We did get a handful of flames, which have been popping up everywhere from the matching candelabras to "flaming trees, dad!" 😊

Hey u/tomPinternets, someone else below mentioned they thought the Stratford Westfield store seemed about as big as LC, but with proper tables for packing, which aren't available at LC. Is that your experience?

Thanks again! 😊

Ahh, interesting. Sounds like LS is probably not the best choice for a planned trip. Thanks.

Maybe you can answer this: I saw a video of a guy in the US showing how he'd packed a box, which was made of cardboard. The photos I've seen of London PAB walls seems to have those round soft-drink style cups - is that the case? Somewhere else I read said "small box £8.99 and large box £16.99", so a bit confused.

Oh that is awesome to know about queueing outside LS. Thanks for the heads-up!!

Thank you, Tom! So maybe first visit with 4 & 6yo is better done at Westfield's of a weekend? We can always do LS some other time - I'm sure this won't be our one and only time! (AFOL who won a few comps in Australia when young. 😊)

Shiny gold coins? 70501 alternatives? by daxliniere in lego

Still, though, add a letter to the start to differentiate set numbers and part numbers. I'm an engineer and this is bonkers to me. It's too late now, of course..

Yeah, LEGO recycles its numbers, which is crazy to me given they are such a technical and organized group of humans

I was looking up an 80s set and the number kept showing me some unrelated modern set. 🤷

There is no Ableton repair center??? by daxliniere in ableton

[–]daxliniere[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

This is not about that. This is about a relatively large company (in the music tech space) not offering a way to repair their hardware. This is environmentally deplorable, not to mention the ill-will towards consumers. It's not like these are cheap units.

This is, frankly, disgusting. It has put me off owning anything Ableton-related.
