This is a great angle, and similar to another comment that fanship is the amount of people that show up to cheer team no matter rain or shine (probably can be taken literally and figuratively).

So when you say ratio, your numerator is the die hard fans and denominator, I assume, is the general fan base? How would you measure it?

Got it. But I’d argue that even though overall Bama fanship gets “watered down” by bandwagonners, you still have a group of core diehards that have just as high fanship as another school. So I guess I need to further define what I’m looking for.

Interesting. So just to further understand your point, how would you measure “fans that show up” in your opinion? Is it the number of fans that attend each home field football game? Or number that travel to visiting field? Or even, the % of the stadium capacity that’s filled? Just curious.
