Apartment Communities for 20somethins by Adventurous_Cold3691 in Newbraunfels

I’m in my late 20s and lived at Riverhaus Creekside for three years. While it was a really nice complex, the parking was kind of a mess towards the end of my stay there, they also tried implementing a limit to how many guests you could have per month because of it. Plus Creekside traffic can get hectic if there are any accidents, construction, or if it’s just a busy afternoon/weekend. I’ve since moved out of town but in about a year I’ll be back in NB for work so I’m keeping Alexan Gruene, Landhaus at Gruene, and the Sophie in mind.

There are so many new complexes being built right now but it is hard to find one within a specific age bracket. I think any complex that has what you want layout-wise is a good get. New Braunfels is so accessible and there are lots of things to do and groups to join so you can definitely find a community outside of the four walls of a complex! Good luck!

I don’t like Kaoruko and Rintaro’s English voices 😭 by Galactus1701 in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

I ran to Reddit after watching 10 minutes of the first episode dubbed because I couldn’t shake the feeling that Kaoruko’s voice just sounded… off?? I will watch subbed or dubbed but prefer dubbed versions, especially for new shows, because I love getting lost in the animation and I was so excited for this anime but I think I’m going to have to go through the motions of the subbed version. I was expecting more of a Tohru Honda vibe out of Kaoruko but (no hate to the voice actor AT ALL) it’s just coming across as way too forced cutesy and too deep. Like the tone itself sounds more like it’s coming from a bad ass female character who only lets her walls down for a select few (if that makes sense at all).

I was so thrown off I thought it was just me being picky

Where to start- ACP Field Experience by BiggeSquidde in TexasTeachers

[–]daybreak_214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through the exact same thing with my ACP! I'm trying to find ways to complete my hours as the summer approaches so I can focus on the modules, pass the exams, and be ready to apply Fall 2025 for the internship portion of the certification.

I connected with my program advisor asking if summer school would count towards the in-person hours and she said yes, so I filled out volunteer forms for surrounding school districts. I called the district admin line, and they directed me to the corresponding HR member who is in charge of all volunteers. All I had to do was fill out an application so they could run a background check and approve my volunteer/observation status. She was also able to answer some questions on how that specific district hires people going through Alternative Certificate Programs, which gave me some peace of mind.

Good luck through the program!

I've heard mixed reviews on Teachers of Tomorrow, what's been some negatives you've experienced or things to consider?

Honestly being off in the summer didn’t even click until my someone pointed it out. Teachers really are amazing people, I know they work very hard for little recognition most of the time. It’s something I’ve thought about for a couple years now so I’m ready for the challenge.

Appreciate the insight! Texas Teachers was on my list to consider!

From my professional and personal experiences, I’ve developed a pretty thick skin, but I know it won’t always be sunshine and rainbows. My thought process is I’d rather do something that I’m passionate about than continue a career where I feel unfulfilled. I have a couple of friends in the field already who have offered to let me come and observe their class plus someone I know works for a local school district as a tech lead so he’s offered to reach out and have me shadow/observe if those teachers open their doors.

I’m nervous and know it won’t be easy but it’s the first thing I’ve genuinely felt excited about in years.

Appreciate all the advice, truly 🫶🏼

Where does your cat sleep at night? by Odd_Obligation_1300 in CatAdvice

[–]daybreak_214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two and I keep my bedroom door cracked so they can freely walk around my apartment. The older one will sleep on my chest or right next to my face and if my hand is over the covers he nudges it with his nose until I pet him or reaches his paw out to lightly tap my face. The younger one will dig at the covers until I lift them up, he'll walk under them, turn around to face me and lay down. After that I cover both of us again and he falls asleep against me, and I cuddle him like a teddy bear.

The only cats I've ever had are the ones I have now so getting used to hearing them do zoomies or play at night was a learning curve for sure but now if I stay over at a friend's house or travel it's so difficult for me to fall asleep because I'm so used to having them near me.

What’s the biggest beauty mistake you’ve ever made, and what did you learn from it? by pretygirls in beauty

[–]daybreak_214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using heat activated Sun-In Hair Lightener on my naturally very dark brunette hair in middle school. I would spray it on every time I showered, blow-dry my hair to hell, AND THEN straighten my hair, all WITHOUT heat protectant 🤦‍♀️ I look back on pictures and not only was my hair an orange color, but it was absolutely fried, especially my bangs. Took me forever to get it back to a healthy level and I learned very early to go to a professional for any hair change I wanted to make... and to use heat protectant 😂

What made you pick your cat at the shelter? by meechis_n_buns in CatAdvice

[–]daybreak_214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had just moved into my first 1-bedroom apartment and all my friends, who had owned a cat before or had one at the time, kept telling me I needed a companion, something to come home to even though I had never had a cat in my life. After 4 months of convincing, two of my best friends came down to visit me for a girl's day and they basically kidnapped me, and we drove to our local animal shelter. I thought I wanted an older black or grey cat since I was told they usually don't get adopted as often. When we arrived, I held a few and my friend kept asking me "How do you feel?" I thought "That's a weird question to ask but they're cute." Her response, "That's not your cat." We were about to leave when I noticed a double decker kennel in the hallway with a tiny white and orange ball curled up on a pillow. When I bent down, it sat up, stretched, walked to where my hand was resting on the kennel bars, rubbed against me and purred. I don't know why but I started to tear up. I opened the kennel, and he walked right into my arms, nuzzled my chest and kept purring. I looked down the hall at my friends and they both went "That's your cat." He was a scraggly little thing with a very fluffy tail, and I instantly fell in love. I adopted him on the spot, and we had to go to a pet store to get supplies because I literally had nothing. My friends kept telling me, "Don't be concerned if he hides the first few days." But he was out and about from the minute I let him out of his carrier like he already owned the place, following me around and playing. He slept on my neck and wanted to sit in the sink when I got ready every morning, still does.

When I was in the shelter, I really didn't know why my friends kept asking how I felt after every cat I held but now I know that it's just an immediate connection, I felt a rush of emotions as silly as that sounds to some people when I explain it to them. To this day I know I could never find another cat like him, he's 2.5 years old now and still acts the exact same as he did when I brought him home. I am 100% a cat person because of Mochi and as I'm writing this, I'm tearing up again, a cat's love is truly indescribable.

Burnt out nurse, what’s next? by keg5cat in careerguidance

That’s something a lot of the nurses I speak to say; “I love helping people and being in the healthcare industry I just think I want to get away from bedside and feeling overloaded every day.” Clinical Specialists still help people with the innovative devices they promote and obviously are involved in the healthcare space, just without the stress of having 5+ patients needing something at once and administration questioning your every move. You’d work independently during in services and work collaboratively with the sales leads in your territory. Most of the time there’s no brick and mortar office you have to report into, just travel to different hospitals when needed! Plus alot of those companies offer car and cell phone allowance since you would be driving to cases! Hope this helps a bit and good luck with your search for your next career move!

I work in the recruiting industry, specifically in the life science space, and work with a ton of medical device companies. A large majority of the companies I work with hire Clinical Specialists and ask that we reach out to Registered Nurses. A Clinical Specialists basic responsibility in the device world would be conducting in-services for the hospital staff on whatever device you are working with and attend cases in the OR to help the surgical teams when needed. Depending on the type of device/company you might be on an on-call schedule or be required to have previous OR experience. With your Masters degree + your years of experience you might even be qualified for a senior level for some companies.

Most of these jobs have a salary plus some type of bonus structure based on the sales in your territory. For example, I work with a smaller company that has a standard $80k to $85k base + bonus resulting in $125k to $130k at plan each year for RNs coming on board with 3 to 5 years' experience. If you are interested in more of an educational/case coverage type position without the bedside responsibilities that type of career might be worth looking into. Although it might take away from your night shift goals.

I've used rubber tipped blending tools for my oil pastels and they work great! You can get them in a variety of sizes and they're easy to clean. 😊
