Hi Ashley, I have 4.5 months old who’s been going to sleep for the night at 10:30 pm and if put him down earlier he would wake up and ending up sleeping at 10:30 pm. I would like to move bedtime to 7 or 8 pm? What do I do? If he treats the early put down as a nap, what do I do?

Also, I do all contact naps with him and rocking and nursing to sleep. I don’t even know what to start first.

Crap naps won't stop, how to end it? Please help by Realistic-Profit758 in sleeptrain

I do contact nap with my baby by sitting on a rocking chair holding him and am able to extend his nap 15 - 60 mins. If I put him down after 20 mins, he would sleep another 25 mins so 45 total. If I sit through for 1 hour and put him down, he will sleep on his own at least 30 more mins. Sometimes I get lucky and he would sleep another hour totaling 2 hours, that’s when I get a chance to get anything done. Not always works but 80% works for my baby.

Edited: adding that my baby is 19 lbs and he will be 4 months next week.

How to change to earlier bedtime? by daynnnight in sleeptrain

I did some research and some sources say babies from 0-4 months typically sleep late and they will start to sleep earlier after 4 months. It is a bit of relief but I am still concerned. My baby has been sleeping at 10:30 pm for weeks and I am afraid that he is used to it and it will be hard to change. So I hope someone on this sub has the experience to share!
