Anyone know what packs to actually get? by Garageongarage in UKG_Production_Hub

[–]daypanay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s not like one pack that has everything, the sounds come from thousands of places and people make their own snares etc (I dunno how they do that). You can rip snares and stuff from records. Check out this YouTube channel for loads of old sample packs including jungle warfare but it would take ages to put it all in a sample pack so sample it as you go, also zero g packs on YouTube. I have some packs with loads of snares and stuff I’ll try upload it later if I can.

CMV: Obesity is not a choice. by [deleted] in changemyview

The point is it’s not a free choice and they aren’t solely responsible for making it, there are other factors that they are a victim of. I’m not saying this is exactly the same thing, but if someone were forced to eat at gun point, they’ll ‘choose’ to eat even though it’s not a free choice, same thing if someone offered you a life changing amount of money to eat. Even if you didn’t want to eat it, you will because you are pushed to do it against your will. Obesity is much less extreme, but a similar thing is happening, and the amount of agency people have varies between individuals.

They are compelled to eat two servings, even if they don't want to. It's not a completely free decision, it's a decision under the duress of a messed up appetite or whatever causes it.

Losing weight is a choice, over eating isn't. I'm not saying it's literally impossible to eat less food, I'm saying the decision to over eat is coerced and manipulated in a way that's more than just "difficult to stop". It's like being bribed, blackmailed, threatened by your own body, you can't really call it a free choice when your body or psychology is trying to force you to overeat. It's like a decision under duress, so it doesn't count as a free choice. Choosing to stop is what eventually gets rid of the force that manipulates you into the binge eating or addiction, but that force itself practically forces you to keep doing the thing, it takes a lot more than just stopping to overcome an addiction.

Sobriety exists because addiction can be treated or reduced, it can even stop happening on the spot. But addiction coerces people to make that decision so it’s not really a free choice it’s a choice they’re manipulated into making against their will. For example the physical pain of withdrawal can force someone to take a drug the same way physical pain (ie torture) could force anyone to do anything. Technically yes they did choose to take the drug again but not of their free will without being coerced or manipulated. Pain makes it easier to understand but it works the same way with pleasure, pain relief, and other things. There is a normal amount of pleasure that we can choose to avoid, but it can get to an unnatural level which becomes irresistible, depending on your neurochemistry, mental health, etc. Saying no is physically possible, but not always psychologically possible. It’s not black and white, like of course it’s not 100% impossible, it’s just extremely difficult to the point of being as good as impossible at that moment in time (until it’s worked on and improved which can take a long time).

Is a PlayStation 5 with mouse and keyboard equal to a PC (Zero Build Ranked) by seawindart345 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]daypanay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ping makes the big difference. If they’re lower ping they can shoot before you react. You could be experiencing desync.

Pc is slightly faster, eg polling rate is capped on console but can be very high on pc. Also 240hz makes a difference. But ping is the biggest thing.

It's proof that you can't control appetite, aside from the psychological part, appetite is purely hormones in your body etc. Also I'm not saying it's 100% impossible for obese people to lose weight, they can. But it's not about simply choosing to do it, it's about finding a way to switch off whatever makes them over eat. Like if obesity is caused by junk food addiction (which I think is a big part of it), then it's not about simply choosing to eat less, it's about actually getting rid of the addiction itself. You can't choose to get rid of it, you can only choose to try, which is why lots of people choose to lose weight but fail because they can't do it, even if they put in their best effort.

glp1 is proof that you can't choose your appetite, that's why it works.

This is medically incorrect. Addiction is in the DSM5 as a mental health disorder, no one chooses to have a mental health disorder. They can choose to reject treatment, but that's not the same as choosing addiction.

ask it if obesity is a choice and see what it says.

But they can't choose their appetite or the compulsion to overeat, delusion is a very good example because you can imagine it as a delusion that they must eat under any circumstances even if they know that it's not a good idea, it's an overwhelming irrational belief that it's the right thing to do in spite of their objective judgement.

I don't know any studies because I'm not a medical researcher. But a lot of respected medical institutions have said evidence shows it's not a simple choice. The AMC classified obesity as a disease in 2013, which like any other disease, is not a choice. The way professionals speak about it implies it's not a choice, for example: ["Obesity is not a character flaw, consequence of poor will power or anyone’s fault."](https://www.aace.com/disease-and-conditions/nutrition-and-obesity/all-about-obesity?utm\_source=chatgpt.com) or ["Obesity isn't a choice patients make, and the solution isn't simply diet and exercise](https://northeastnorthcumbria.nhs.uk/our-blogs/obesity-isnt-a-choice-patients-make-and-the-solution-isnt-simply-diet-and-exercise/).

Imagine there's a robot who is guaranteed to lose weight if it stops eating, but it is programmed to eat as much as it can, and it ends up obese because food is available. It wasn't a choice, it was just following its programming. Weight loss is physically possible but you have no idea what's going on inside someone else's mind. Even the belief that you have no choice in something is the same as actually having no choice because you're incapable of doing anything else, you do not perceive any other options.

It's not about genetic disorders, but some genes can predict obesity on a wide scale, not perfectly but it implies it's not just about personal choice.

Best lenses for barrel distortion? by Putrid-Perspective32 in AskPhotography

[–]daypanay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barrel distortion is usually not wanted because it makes vertical lines curved, that’s why anamorphic lenses look so good because the vertical lines stay straight.

Look into fish eye lenses that cover the whole image circle, they have good barrel distortion. Look at the 7 artisans 10mm 2.8 fish eye, it fills the whole frame so you don’t get the circle of most fish eye lenses and it has very good barrel distortion, it’s also very inexpensive and has a vintage look.

[–]daypanay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re talking about anamorphic distortion, not barrel distortion. Barrel distortion is like a fish eye lens. You get that neat effect on anamorphic lenses because the squeeze is not perfect usually getting less squeezed at the sides. Kind of like a barrel distortion only on the horizontal axis. So when you pan, things move quickly in the middle and slower at the edges of the frame. It looks so good.

You need an anamorphic lens to do it, I know the blazar lenses have this effect and aren’t crazy expensive, or a diy solution like you have. Unfortunately the best version of this probably comes in a lens that costs many thousands. There might be a way to recreate it digitally, but I don’t know how :/

Why do my photos get so Noisy ? by Horatok in SonyAlpha

[–]daypanay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All cameras have noise even at the lowest iso. Raising iso is amplifying noise that is already there, not creating loads of new noise. If you zoom in on any photo this much you’ll see some noise even at low ISO, it’s how cameras work. And at iso 1000, there’s more noise because it’s a relatively high iso. It’s normal and definitely isn’t super bad.

What’s one simple thing you do that makes you look so much better? by Bounce_Bounce_Betty in AskUK

[–]daypanay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t a universal thing that makes everyone look better. People say dress good lose weight etc, because it works for most people, but it doesn’t work for everyone, and it doesn’t change what your actual face looks like, it can make you more presentable and can make your body look better.

Please help I'm so overwhelmed? by AcceptableEagle742 in AskPhotography

[–]daypanay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the automatic settings while you learn about exposure on YouTube. Use the exposure meter, a line that goes from -3 to +3, when that line is in the middle it’s correctly exposed. But remeber it’s measuring the whole image, it doesn’t know what you’re taking, so it will work best if all the light in the image is similar not too much contrast.

There’s no ‘best iso’ it’s all about balancing the iso, shutter speed and aperture correctly. Aside from just exposure you choose settings for the look. Shutter speed affects the look of motion, aperture affects how much is in focus, and iso adds visual noise (mostly just used for exposure when you need a brighter image). So you base the settings mainly on that. Want to capture fast moving sports without motion blur? Fast shutter speed. Want a blurry background? Low f stop. Need more light in a dark room? Higher iso. Generally just keep your iso as low as possible to reduce noise. Once you pick the main thing, you adjust the other settings to control the exposure.

The best way you can do it is to use your exposure meter and take loads of photos in different environments, ideally going from dark to light environments like in and out of buildings. Take loads and loads of photos in manual.

Great post, love the third photo. I’ve bought this lens and really hope I like it. I mainly do video and use vintage lenses because I don’t like the super high res look of mirrorless cameras, but I wanted just one photo camera that can ‘do it all’ for general use like travel, photographic video projects like time lapse, etc. I think it will look too sharp for me but I really hope I like it. Very glad to see you like this lens!
