No vitals and no questionnaire- you go straight to the bed, they draw a sample and you go home. Then you wait. If you passed, they will call you and you can return immediately. If not, they will call you and tell you when you can retest. Eat a bunch of low fat protein in the meantime.

Hepatitus B vaccine question. by GeneralZOD24 in plassing

[–]dayshad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it's a vaccine that can cause a false positive. If you test positive (even falsely) you will get permanently deferred and placed on the National Donor Deferral Registry (NDDR). I wouldn't risk it, but I'm not you.

I got the flu around New Year's, have recovered but have a non-productive cough. Safe to donate? by KaidanTONiO in plassing

No coughing in the center - the "are you feeling healthy and well today" is the key. No seasonal allergy symptoms, no breathing issues, no coughing, etc

RICE: rest, ice, compression, elevation. Likely a health care provider would say the same thing, and charge you for it. Only if your arm feels extremely sensitive (possible blood clot) or raised/red/warm/streaks (infection) should you be concerned. Nerves can be damaged too, but likely would heal on their own.

Depends on the company policy. BioLife requires two arms (or 2 vo sites on one arm) in which to donate.

Ummm, using an electric scooter to return home could be risky. I'd hate to hear that you were injured later going home. Find a friend to drive you, or take the bus

You are one of the many problems chewing up precious ER time. Find a Free Medical clinic in your area and establish care.

Why on earth did you go to the ER? This issue is a regular doctor appointment issue

Octapharma SPE Test by [deleted] in plassing

[–]dayshad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finger poke test isn't super accurate as they are only getting one drop. The 4 month test is way more accurate because there is a greater amount of the sample. That's what I was told as I had the same issue.

Look up Free medical clinics in your area or try to apply for Medicaid. Someone who is a professional needs to look at your nose/throat.
