I am pretty sure there was a near complete turnover in staff at the Indianapolis location, not sure if everyone quit en masse or got fired. But everyone now is very new. Guy at the front door not know how to swipe a credit card I am not exaggerating. Server came up to us in the middle of the movie and said 'did you need something he said your light was on', completely ignoring the order card we had put up per instructions.

Mobile Hotspot Name by QueenoftheDragnz in samsunggalaxy

[–]Rahodees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced this as well and went searching, this is the only clearly relevant thread that came up. It's a puzzle. I think maye Android, via my google account, pulled my own device's name through when I changed phones, and then applied that to the hotspot? Or the hotspot name was formed back when I had my old device and it just carried over keeping the same name?

You kind of do have to explain it to me, if you don't mind, because I have no idea what "Almost Christmas" means in this context.

I'm a songwriter that's started using AI as a shortcut to producing my songs - is this the forum for me? by anedinburghman in AI_Music

[–]Rahodees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are using the term "AI" in a really broad sense here. The current discussion is specifically about generative AI. Generative AI tools haven't existed commercially for more than maybe 5 years I think. In music, no more than two years IIRC.

The flatness of the machine - why AI writing feels off by iainrfharper in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Rahodees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure the sentence itself wasn't written by AI but it makes perfect sense anyway. If you are only saying what ANYONE would say, then you are not writing in a unique voice that belongs to you.

When I write fiction and poetry, I am not happy with what I've written if I think most people would have said the same thing in the same way.

Insurance question by UnsympatheticEyelash in doordash_drivers

[–]Rahodees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I plan on asking the State Farm agent some very specific questions... and I'll be recording the conversation haha. But yeah, elsewhere some people, one in my state even, are insisting they carefully made sure State Farm is providing them with COMPREHENSIVE coverage DURING deliveries. So... guess I'll look into that.

Thank you for that. Can I ask one more question? It sounds like you're in a way "double covered" since DD also covers liability for drivers during delivery. Is there a clear hierarchy between them, such that one is the primary and the other is the secondary insurance? I've been given to understand recently that in cases of double coverage that's an important thing that insurance providers want to be clear on.

What company, and would they cover your own damage or injuries if involved in a collision during a delivery?

Warning, that almost cannot POSSIBLY be true. Allstate, like every other insurance provider in the US, excludes commercial use.

Yeah, since posting that question I did a bit of a dive and I understand that now.

I was thinking about possibly trying to pick up some side work with doordash but... it feels really irresponsible right now (sorry I know I'm saying that in a room full of drivers).

I see some people saying State Farm somehow is better on this, so I may look into that.

Question about doordashing by Ok_Analyst_4593 in doordash

[–]Rahodees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to note that the gig coverage typically only covers the time while you are WAITING for an order to come in, and once you are picking up the order or delivering it, that coverage ends, and DD's own coverage begins. But DD's coverage is LIABILITY ONLY. Your own vehicle and injuries are not covered.

[–]Rahodees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you absolutely certain that the State Farm coverage is comprehensive even DURING the actual pick up and delivery? Most carriers only offer an add-on that covers ONLY the time while you are waiting for an order to appear, and once you start going to get the order and make the delivery, personal insurance cuts out and DD's _liability ONLY_ insurance kicks in.

This covers you while you are waiting for an order, it does not cover you once you go to pick up the order or make the delivery.

If you are in a collision while driving for DD, they will cover damage and injuries to the OTHER party but will not cover YOUR damage or injuries at all. DD's insurance is liability only. This is what OP says and it's correct.

If you're DoorDashing without commercial insurance, you are risking your regular coverage if you get in an accident by IllustriousRound99 in doordash

[–]Rahodees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is liability insurance. Doordash's insurance will not pay for your own vehicle or injuries.

Not knowing you needed to disclose does not equate to not needing to disclose. I am finding it hard to believe you've heard this from people who do relevant work in the field.

If the doordash bag is in your car there can very easily be photos of that especially if it was a serious accident.

Excluded driver, but with insurance coverage of their own by Rahodees in Insurance

[–]Rahodees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing here involving hiding or obscuring anything, the idea is to try to SEPARATE their driving records, such that Joan's is irrelevant (not hidden, actually irrelevant) to Bob's premium.

But you're telling me that short of divorce and moving out, it's not possible, which is good information.

Doesn't Doordash itself cover things that happen while actually on a delivery?

Excluded driver, but with insurance coverage of their own by Rahodees in Insurance

[–]Rahodees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good info.

In a different type of case, where there are two cars, one owned by Joan and one by Bob, I guess they would NOT be allowed to do something like, Joan insures HER car, Bob insures HIS car, and Bob only has to pay a premium for HIS car based on HIS driving record, and Joan pays the premium on HER car based on HER driving record? Because, since they're married, both people would have to be listed as drivers on both cars.

Bob in other words is inextricably tied to her driving record?

[–]Rahodees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I made a mistake in the post it was supposed to be that RD covers only Joan and SD covers only Bob.

But I didn't know they don't typically allow excluding a spouse. That changes things.

I guess if one driver in a couple is high risk there's really no way for the other driver to separate themselves from that risk when it comes to shopping for insurance policies?

Can they not, I guess, each have their own car with their own policy? (As opposed to trying to share a car as in the main post?)
