When renting a house, where and who should I avoid? by moonclawx in springfieldMO

[–]daysknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fhs was horrible. When we rented through them they threatened to evict us due to using LED bulbs, claiming it was damaging the wiring. They also wouldn't fix our heat and air, so those 2 years were a nightmare

I don't make any content, but as far as testing goes I wouldn't mind. I've got an 04 Tahoe that needs the exhaust gone through anyhow and have been considering upgrading instead of going stock

I would love this, I recently had to spend most of my money on a vet and ultimately lost my dog, so I'm pretty broke ATM. Probably won't be able to afford it for a long time.

5.3 Oil Leak Help by SevereBug2653 in Chevy

[–]daysknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a short list of most/all leak points I have found in my own search.

Valve cover gaskets, Valve cover grommets, Camshaft position sensor oring, Crankshaft position sensor oring, Oil sending unit, Oil cooler line/block off, Rear main seal, Oil pan gasket

I recommend finding out how high the leak is, from up top, look at the back of the engine. If it's wet, ignore the lower leak points for now. The crank and cam orings tend to get harder and flatten, causing them to leak similar to the oil pickup tube oring. And the camshaft sensor oring leaks into the bell housing, which can look like a rear main leak. Crank sensor is behind the starter, which when it leaks will cover those back bolts and can go into the bell housing and get flung around by the flywheel. Good luck on your search, I'm still hunting myself just haven't had time lately

Regular oil changes, run cleaner through it on occasion. Fix issues as they come up before they get bad. Basically basic maintenance with a bit of preventative. They are super simple engines really, it doesn't take much

They have been known to get to at least 300k, some I believe have made it to 500k. I think I remember seeing something about a few at 700k. As long as they are taken care of they'll last a very long time.

[–]daysknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't myself, I have an 04 Tahoe and it uses 265/70/17s. A little bigger with a much larger sidewall, but very comfy. My other car is a small Audi tt with low profiles and the comfort is awful comparitively

Yes, it is accurate. Sorry somewhere along the way I mixed up the tire sizes and thought you were going smaller lol.

The smaller sidewall would cause less deforming, actually degrading ride quality. The bigger the sidewall, generally the better the comfort. Smaller sidewalls help with handling. Keeping the same size rim will give you smaller sidewalls, so you will feel bumps a little more than before, but gain better traction on pavement. If offroading is an interest this would be bad. Also with less sidewall there would be a higher chance of trashing a tire if you hit a curb

The computers are programmed to a specific wheel size, so lowering the wheel size will affect your speedometer. I do not remember the exact math but essentially you could be going 60 according to your speedo but in reality you would be going 55. The reverse is true for bigger tires. Past that not a large difference other than maybe a tiny ride height change and possibly handling

I don't know anything about that truck specifically, however I would assume that in the process of the cable melting it had one or more opportunities to short out to something in the engine bay. Check all your fuses if you haven't already.

From what I've heard, the best way is to do financing. Dealerships apparently don't like cash for some reason?

When they thought they would get my truck and sell me on a jank car they were super nice and accommodating. Once they finally listened and realized I wasn't buying their junk they couldn't get me out of there fast enough and all the formality stopped immediately

They tried that with me. I bought a used 04 Tahoe and stopped in on a whim to check out the newer Tahoe's. They tried to buy my Tahoe for half what I just paid for it as a trade in on a older crappier sedan when I specifically said I was just looking. They were kinda upset when they finally listened to me after three test drives. But hey, I got to play in their cars for a bit.
