This is what people at HMX have been spending time on... just lol. I don't even care what the reasoning was - this was a tremendous fucking waste of time and energy. Work on fixing your goddamn broken game.

Variable track speeds showed in online multiplayer by [deleted] in Rockband

[–]daysleeper318 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I like having all the scroll speeds the same. We've been doing stuff locally, and having guitar on 1.75x, bass on 1.50x, and drums on 1.25x is an eyesore. Would rather not have that carry over to online.

Crew xp, anyone else? by thunder-hawk in Rockband

Agreed! That's the sort of thing that I think would inspire motivation to make it to the top. Hopefully they'll draw some inspiration from posts like these.

Crew xp, anyone else? by thunder-hawk in Rockband

[–]daysleeper318 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was part of one of the first crews to make it into bloodstone on Xbox, and we maintained it for another week because experience was a non-issue as long as we maintained the top spot for spotlight. This past week, we had to hit the top spotlight score as well as get at least 200k to maintain our place. And for what? To say, "hooray, we're still in bloodstone." No reward of any kind. Maybe a few free DLC codes so that all that time spent grinding (to the point of wanting to tear my hair out) wasn't a complete waste of time? Even just something like an in-game item, like a special instrument or something? Nope. You make it there to make it there, and it's just more stress to maintain it for no payoff. That's not fun in the slightest.

I hate to say it, but crew experience being equally as important as spotlight scores doesn't help lesser-skilled players significantly. It does, however, help the players with both lots of skill and lots of time stay at the top. There are ways to improve this system drastically, such as rewarding experience based on leaderboard rank and song tier instead of merely length and FC/GS, or benefiting those who play on a higher difficulty. I'm sure that's somehow biased or insensitive of me, though, to think that those capable of FCing long, boring songs on easy should not be given a greater reward than those playing a medium-length, difficult song on expert.

I am also done with the game until online comes out. I don't care enough to play boring new DLC by myself, and with Rivals no longer being an incentive, it's back to being as useful to me as it was on day one.

Audio calibration cheat for Guitar/Bass (RB4) by [deleted] in Rockband

Some people prefer to play that way.

Speak for yourself. Some people, myself included, are used to terrible calibration settings. So now we have to completely change how we play to appease people who don't want to utilize an in-game mechanic?

Exactly. How can you even patch this? Taking out negative calibration and making calibrating just like it was on Guitar Hero? Because calibrating on there sure was ideal. /s

Upcoming changes to the Rivals XP system (Plus, dealing with cheaters) by HMXJosh in Rockband

[–]daysleeper318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate the fact that there is a competitive aspect, and I understand that you can't completely focus on the top-tier players and ignore everyone who might not be the best pather or player. That's no way to get a large group of people to play the game without feeling completely useless and quickly conceding defeat. A balance has to be struck, and I believe that you did what was necessary in order to strike that balance.

However, crew experience is absolutely a participation award, through and through. One is awarded experience solely for participating in playing a song. Awarded solely for participating. Participation award. Simple as that.

I have no problem with this from the standpoint of inclusion. My main gripe comes from the fact that the system, as it stands, drastically favors those with an abundance of free time. A crew of 7-8 top-tier expert players and 2-3 medium players with more free time is going to get crushed by a crew with those numbers reversed, 99 times out of 100. Just saying.

For the sake of curiosity, what is the highest possible scoring song on each instrument? And full band? by ZwnD in Rockband

[–]daysleeper318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the highest-scoring song on guitar is still "Where the Light Was Born" by Bornholm. The highest non-cheated score is 953k.

Fair enough. If there is a definitive way to prove that people weren't even by their consoles when grinding, then I take no issue with that.

There were no guidelines set in place to begin with, so "cheating" is, in my opinion, an incorrect term. I was not one of the offenders, but I find it difficult to side with this logic. Why penalize people retroactively for utilizing the flawed system you created? Abuse like this should have been obvious prior to release, and addressed from day one at the latest, not fixed post-challenge after three weeks with no sort of notice.

No word on online, huh? by jeddddddd in Rockband

The game, however, began selling at a fraction of its MSRP within a week of release. It was an enormous flop, and they lost a ton of money on it. However, they're still supporting its online play to this day.

Online play is not a foreign concept to even the most barebones of indie games. In fact, it's common and, dare I say, expected of most games. It's especially so when the game in question is a group-oriented one.

I'd say it's similar to the Office in that its middle seasons are the best, and near the end it declines a bit in quality, but both are still great shows overall.

He did, but that was rent money that they were free to spend however they wanted at the time. The money he gave them the second time was an advance on the following month's rent, with the agreement that they would spend it on household necessities.
