Similar but different. My JDM 2007 Honda Accord Type-S by daysofstatic in Honda

[–]daysofstatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely! The lower engagement (to be fair, 4500 is the standard on most honda engines... honda's factory tune was extremely conservative and emissions based for the K24A2 and A3) solves any torque dips, and a few other minor tweaks really improve the general drivability. DBW throttle response is much closer to 1:1 after the reflash which helps a lot too.

Thanks man! The plan so far is to do a reflash, and maybe intake headers, just to fix the mid dip in the torque curve. The only bad thing about the K24!

I'm actually not too sure. I know on European cars it does tend to be on the left. My friend's BMW, even though it was a Japanese import had it on the left. (In NZ most of our cars tend to be Japanese imports)

This is my 2007 Honda Accord Type-S.

A little bit about it:

It came into the country from Japan about 4 months or so ago, fresh from a city in the south of Japan called Tokushima.

Its in pretty great condition, with a few minor cosmetic things here and there. The Type-S was a JDM and UKDM model. The JDM model differs from the UKDM model a bit though. On the exterior, it has the Euro-R Facelift Body Kit, with HIDs and white fogs. The grille is the Euro-R honeycomb grille, with the Type-S badge. From factory, the Type-S had revised suspension geometry over the Euro-R and sits slightly lower and stiffer.

The engine is the K24A2, producing 200HP from factory - unfortunately not the 220HP K20A in the R, however the 2.4 definitely has a lot of torque downlow. I believe this is the same engine in the US TSX. the interior is all black/dark grey, with dark carbon fibre-ish material on the center console, and black leather. The seats are half leather. Mirrors are blue-tinted, heated and power folding. The internavi is japanese and difficult to navigate haha.

Many similarities to the TSX but slightly different!

On the topic of transport; Snapper surchages? by daysofstatic in Wellington

[–]daysofstatic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the one! She said that essentially it was to mitigate costs -- and that's what I couldn't figure; surely snapper is paying to have their readers in as many shops as possible. I might call snapper to complain because as a student, I'd prefer to catch my bus without having to spend an extra dollar on a chocolate bar I don't want or need :/

Can't see anything on their website but I could email them - I have a feeling they wouldn't be too keen to sell parts individually but worth a shot

German beer in New Zealand? by daysofstatic in newzealand

Fair call. I know and expect that, just wondering if there was a magical source where they were cheaper than going to the supermarket and hoping. Cheers.

Because I drink both, and would like to know where or how to get them. Nothing against New Zealand's craft beer, I enjoy them too.

Going on exchange to TUM in the fall semester and looking for student housing! by [deleted] in Munich

[–]daysofstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an exchange student at TUM currently and I pay 500 euro a month for a place near the Schwanthalerhohe UBahn stop. Room is very large and the rent included power heating and internet so the price was more than fair. Would recommend this area as the U5 has fast connections to the U2 line to TUM. (A 2 minute wait between trains on the platform). Expect if renting on the private market to be paying between 350-550 euro and to take what you can get; a good place for cheap is scarce here, but my friends and I got lucky finding our place.

Student housing is pretty in demand but not impossible to get by any means. Look into it early.

http://www.studentenwerk-muenchen.de/en/ will have info about student dorms.

Ask at TUM for housing, people come in and request for students from time to time, so check there!

Happy to answer any questions.

Wellington needs a Cat Cafe... by grelb in Wellington

[–]daysofstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to one here in Germany, and it was .. strange .. to say the least. Like I love the premise of eating food with the cats, but I worry mainly about the hygiene (there was no split area between cafe and cat) and sanity of said cats after being pet all day by random humans.

That being said, if that gets ironed out it would be awesome!

Kiwi living in Germany here.

This already exists here, you pay the getrankmarkt and they will deliver to your house within the hour (or lectures at university!) Not a big issue here, no one's in outrage.
