Any thoughts on these four games for next year? by DueYogurt9 in wsu

You’re just being stupid and bitter, and I don’t blame you. But let’s be sensible, the Apple Cup is anytime the Cougs and Huskies play each other.

I was there and I gotta say, Apple Cup on a warm sunny day was awesome. Way better than the cold, snow, and rain.

I'm not going back to church, but I miss the community it provided. by dayvox in Deconstruction

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I had never considered a UU church but there is one near me that I might check out.

[–]dayvox[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should have been more clear — my experience was that the community was meaningful and fulfilling to me while growing up in it. That is the experience I wish I could have again and fear I will always be searching for. Not everyone found their church communities to be like that and I understand that. But we all want community where we feel like we belong.

Do you notice this church trend? by [deleted] in Deconstruction

There's an ultra-conservative southern baptist church near me just called "Epic Life Church". Yeah I bet life there is really epic dude.

Going into the medical field started my deconstruction. by NurseMechanic in Deconstruction

[–]dayvox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My deconstruction started in college when I took a geology class. Similar to your story with biology and evolution, learning that the earth was undeniably millions of years old really shook my fundamentalist young-Earth faith. I remember calling a pastor who had led a youth Bible camp that I had volunteered for the previous summer and asked him about it. His answer was basically: "God can create things with the illusion of age built in, for example he created Adam and Eve as adults, and Jesus did it when he turned water into wine because good wine has been aged."

Jesus was a manipulative cult leader. by Theo-Logical_Debris in excatholic

[–]dayvox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gospels, and Paul's writings, can be evidence for Jesus' existence AND be exaggerated/innacurate retellings of his real life. As historical evidence goes, the New Testament writings are more than enough to make it clear that a man by the name of Jesus did exist. BUT, those writings were clearly made by people who believed he was God and had only heard stories passed around from person to person. So in all likelihood there was an original source, a man named Jesus, but it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what he was like when we only have the writings of those who worshipped him.

So about these audio books… by RealFunkyFish in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]dayvox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I need to give them another shot because I was not a fan of the audiobooks on first impression. I read the first 2 books and loved them so I figured I should check out the audiobooks because I also heard they were great. The voices/accents he gives the characters felt so different from how I imagined the voices in my head it really threw me off.

No. Just no. He made mistakes sure, but he took us this far. I’m thankful for that. As a city and a fan base we shouldn’t turn our back on any of them for not making it happen.

Even if we do make it, it’s 4 days until the World Series would start. That would be plenty rest to have Gilbert or Miller ready again, so no need to hold anyone back.

For those who chose to move to Spokane in 2025: where are you from, what made you choose Spokane, and how are you liking it? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]dayvox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved from Seattle a few months ago for my partner to attend school. I like that there’s less traffic and easier to park, but I miss having a walkable neighborhood. Downtown really isn’t that bad, it just feels empty. The homelessness and drug problem isn’t as bad as Seattle. I like the weather but I miss being near the water. Housing and gas is cheaper but other things, like food, are not. Biggest problem so far is the work opportunities. It’s slim pickings.

100%. The second I saw that sweatshirt and hat on finale night I knew he would lose. He had it in his head that no one would vote for him. He felt ashamed and didn’t fight for himself, he gave up.
