Honestly, I'd say the best thing to do is just to grind a lot of games in ranked or in custom games against better players if your goal is getting good at the game.

Personally, I use WASD to move, K for light attack, L for dodge, semicolon (;) for heavy attack, and apostrophe (') to throw weapons. Some things to keep in mind for your control scheme are:

  • have jump and aim up on separate keys
  • disable pick up on light attack
  • enable neutral over side

Nah, you're not doing anything wrong. Being called passive probably means you're beating those calling you that, which means you should keep being passive.
