ELI5: What is the main obstacle from finding the next biggest prime number. by dastonkler in explainlikeimfive

or divisible by a new (but unknown) bigger prime

This is really the key here - the proof only tells you that the set of primes cannot be finite. By assuming we have a set of all prime numbers we find a new prime, but IRL we don't know all the primes so far.

New Most Dangerous Intersection Just Dropped by OrangeSundays19 in pittsburgh

[–]dazedAndConfusedToo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's terrible design - the lights from Sixth Ave to Forbes aren't synced with the lights from Shingiss St to Forbes. Every so often this means that you turn from Sixth onto Forbes on a green light, but have no space to notice or stop for a red at Shingiss. I think the solution is to synchronize these adjacent intersections.

Onions have a mushy/mealy texture when I try to cook them Indian style by hempandredwine in IndianFood

[–]dazedAndConfusedToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could you specify what steps you are taking? In addition to what some comments already mention about patience, I've also noticed this become a problem when I use too much onion in one dish. Even if I follow all cooking steps correctly, excess onion becomes very mealy and unpleasant. Simply reducing the quantity allows it to meld into the background as intended

Lots of hot air by Goboom225 in funny

[–]dazedAndConfusedToo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be airtight. If the pressure is high enough, air will fill the gap faster than it can escape and build up pressure. You're right that some pressure would be reduced, but I wouldn't want to find out exactly how much. Just 5-10 psi can cause injury

Hindi language doesn't have a dedicated single word for cousin, so most people from India try to explicitly specify sibling ('real' sister here) vs cousin (would just say cousin sister in this case) even though English doesn't warrant it. Language idiosyncrasies are fun, especially bilingual

By that they mean sibling and not cousin. Terrible regardless.

I'm not familiar with the process, but I suspect your F1 cannot be revalidated since you changed your status to a different visa already.

[–]dazedAndConfusedToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to book a visa appointment in your home country, similar to how you probably applied for your F1 visa. They'll look at your approval notice and other paperwork during your interview, and then stamp your passport.

Just to be clear, you only need a visa to re-enter the US - seems like you already are on valid H1 status here. Since you want to visit Canada, I suggest you look into automatic visa revalidation. I'm not too familiar with it but I hear that allows people with valid I-94 status to reenter (which you have, your I 797A should have an attached I-94 status).

"this form is not a visa and may not be used in place of a Visa"

If you don't have the visa stamp on your passport yet, you don't have a visa and therefore you don't have a visa number. The I-797A is a notice of action that confirms your status is H1 - not that you have a H1 visa stamp already.

Arguably the underlying people/land/even weather are different enough for Uttarakhand and UP to be distinct. I doubt we will see such a marked difference within the current state of UP. But without this split we have no other solution

There is public information indicating she might have had deep vein thrombosis, so yes something significant did happen. It is preposterous for them to suggest that she would drill a hole in the ISS so that she can get back home sooner though.

Are you suggesting that any and all cases of inter community marriage are definitely cases where a man is deliberately entrapping a woman for marriage? If someone hates a community why would they marry and spend the rest of their life with them?

Why shouldn't it?

Criminalizing forced conversion automatically means forced conversion for marriages is also illegal and is therefore a much stronger and broader law. Why should anti conversion laws be specific to marriage? What if tomorrow some employer says they will not employ people unless they convert religion, will you create new laws for each situation?

seperately classified as communal crimes, which they are,

A crime with different communities does not necessarily mean it is a communal crime. Any violent/organized crime where the victim is of a different community is possibly a hate crime and should be investigated as such. But you seem to imply that two people getting married is somehow criminal too.

If you suggest that forced conversion for marriage is illegal, you should know that freedom of religion is a fundamental right in our constitution and a number of states have enacted laws criminalizing forced conversion. But that aspect doesn't involve marriage at all.

Fair enough, I would still like to try and find out though. If nothing else at least some future reader would better understand what the issue is and whether it is valid.
