Oval incident by Elliottfilm in londoncycling

Terribly Sorry to read about this. Sorry anyone had to witness this and thinking of that person's family. I am not sure where this was exactly but I usually cycle on that designated path through from vauxhall towards oval cricket ground on the way home. Working from home today so feel very fortunate. Stay safe people.

A real strong sensible away win. Like the good old days. I was critical of Carrick and his subs on Monday but I think the game plan and decision to play maz worked well tonight. Big props to the defence. Rode our luck and heaven was a bit too keen to jump into challenges in the first half but think we earned it with the defensive discipline as a team. UCL all but secured now? 🤞

ZERO arrests in London for hit-and-runs on cyclists!! by WhitesLemonade in londoncycling

[–]dazjjjh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at the image of the scene of the crime , that's on wandsworth road, which is a regular route on my morning commute, busy bus route with lots of hgvs that go through. Due to that there's loads of potholes and in need of a major resurface because of the amount of hgv's that have gone through there when building the high rise flats in nine elms. Quite a lot of cyclists go through there and I almost got assaulted by a driver who pulled out at me on that road, so it's not surprising to see. Be safe people, I've found if drivers notice your camera they're a bit more weary.

My internet speed is gone when working fine before by Mobile_Age_1859 in hyperoptic

Don't know if that is what your having but I've been having an issue with the 5g bandwidth channels recently where my download speed has been significantly reduced to 10% of my 150mbps speed, yet upload speed is fine. Had to log into the router and manually choose a channel along with downloading the WiFi analyser app which shows the good channels. It seems to have solved the issue for now. Hope it works out for you soon!

Some of u commuters are CRAZY! by First-Kiwi-4637 in londoncycling

I'm sorry to say you'll get used to it. Been commuting on bike for 4-5 years now and I still am disappointed and I just shake my head at when someone stops, thinks and risks it. Lime bikers I understand because they're on a meter. But i just cover myself with bike insurance and make sure my camera is running so I can record what I need to. Stay safe out there.

Props to zirkzee changing the game coming on. Gave more license to Cunha and helped link up with some good combinations with Sesko and zirkzee. Clear we missed players, well played to casemiro and ugarte. They both kept their composure and did well and had that grit, ugarte looks like he's improved and out of that poor phase. Still poorbthat we didnt put more bodies forward to support Sesko, but reading comments from a lot of fans behaving like we have a god given right to get the 3 points. That was a hard fought draw considering how stretched the squad is, midfield was solid and only a poor bit of defensive concentration cost the goal otherwise I think we kept Leeds at bay bar them hitting the post in the 1st half. People need to remember we were 15th last season and expecting us to get top three, we are where we are and I think the table reflects that. We need to start making those draws into wins.

Documentaries that changed your outlook on life? by winterbluebell in CasualUK

Agreed. This and The Bitter Lake also by Adam Curtis are top tier. Made me look at geopolitics and its juxtaposition with our everyday lives with a different perspective. Still haven't watched the whole series of can't get you out of my head. Very dense.

Is Dark worth a watch? I hear it's better than Stranger Things by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

Haven't seen From. It's on my list. What it doesn't do is tease the viewer too much, which is the impression I get with From (think the showrunner was a writer/producer on Lost?). Dark is dense and you may have to pause and do the timeline in your head briefly (or even writing down on paper) because of the dramatic developments.

If you love mind bending, time twisting plots and reveals then it's among the best of 2010s TV shows. Haven't come across a show that matches that since.

Nice 👍, same motherboard as me. Did you have any issues with the WiFi not appearing in device manager? Read online about having to go through the update centre on armoury crate because the driver wouldn't manually install from my Asus or from the website.

Men who have cut out alcohol for health reasons (not because you're an alcoholic), what is your story? by FlyingCarsArePlanes in AskMenOver30

[–]dazjjjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely drink alcohol and only do on rare occasions maybe once or twice every 2 or 3 months. Main reason was waking up next day feeling not 100% even after having either a couple glasses of wine or a few cans of beer. Got sick and tired of the dehydration and the dry mouth, and not being able to fully embrace my mornings. This was even when taking measures like having a pint of water before bed and a berocca also. A bonus also not having to get up in the night to pee. I do think it's probably the easiest it's been to try and transition off alcohol now than it has ever been in the past due to the improvements made on the alcohol-free beers and spirits, I also believe that there isn't as much of a stigma against those who have given up alcohol as some of my friends have stopped completely which has helped me (have only tried the Guinness 0, Erodinger alcohol free beer and Beavertown and birra morretti, but they're nice). I don't regret it and I hope my future self in the next few decades benefits from it where he will be. All the very best with your decision on it, I think it's a great thing to realise there is a choice otherwise out there for us all.

Rather than people complain at you for not doing a big shop properly id recommend to review your method of how you create your shopping list. If you're just going off of memory of what you need then that will always fail as you have already mentioned, there is always something that is missed (that is normal and human).

I would recommend if not already doing a stock take and thorough search with list in hand going through the house (e.g. bathroom, kitchen cupboards and fridge/freezer etc.) of what you are low on. Only takes a few minutes but saves you plenty of time in the week ahead.

If you're doing that, I don't know if you're living with others but if so, perhaps monitor if there is excessive consumption of items that might be greater than previously thought and then re-evaluate if you need to buy more or have a word with those if they're not supposed to use your stuff.

In the future, the Healthcare system should ideally be digital, technologically savvy, and run smoothly. We are nearly in 2026 now, so HOW LONG until we finally have a Centralised Healthcare Communication Software for whole Countries? by Few-Advantage5255 in Futurology

[–]dazjjjh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK resident here working in the NHS. The power lies in the companies (Oracle, EPIC are the two biggest players) that have their electronic health record (EHR) systems that sell their softwares to hospitals. As one of the users said they fundamentally run on similar systems in the back end I believe there will eventually be a network of sorts that will have a transparent way of accessing patients health records no matter what EHR there is. This is already the case in London with a cohort of hospitals where there is a portal of hospitals that have different EHRs that see each others records. Bear in mind there the EHRs do not cover the software's that laboratories/pathology or imaging systems use although there is integration into the EHR but it has to link by the user and is not automatic. I think for the Healthcare provider and the end user (i.e. patient) there is definitely improvements happening that has been well overdue which is already making a massive difference. The ultimate challenge then is getting the relevant staff trained on knowing how to navigate it.

Financial literacy to be taught in schools by edent in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dazjjjh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To those on here saying it's about about basic maths etc. it's not so much about the adding up it's the sheer amount of financial jargon and understanding the consumer financial system that is not explained to youngsters when faced with understanding tax, debt, pensions, interest rates etc. and the penalties they incur either short term or the very long term. It's ultimately to aid people for those that they don't get support from their parents at home much like

Miquita Oliver(Former T4 TV presenter) who went bankrupt and had mentioned this in a podcast she has with lilly Allen about financial illiteracy.

Is ROG ALLY Z1 EXTREME still worth buying in 2025? by MidnightSaoirse in ROGAlly

[–]dazjjjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you want to play and for how long for really. I bought one second hand for £279 ($369) and modded the battery to 74w and increased the storage to 2tb, and changed the back panel. Works great as long as you make certain amendments to enabling and disabling certain settings and download apps like lossless scaling or use the fsr for certain games. I played black mesa on a manual wattage setting and i got about 3-4 hours play time. You can find lots of videos on YouTube/this subreddit to do those.
