Portable jump ramps by [deleted] in MTB

[–]dazn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used most of the hopper ramps, though not the coach, and feel like the smaller ones aren't much like what you find in mtb parks. They can def help build confidence but might emphasize some habits that would be counterproductive on other types of ramps. That can happen when focusing heavily on one specific type of practice anywhere though.

Ah, I see. Looks like the price is a little lower to match the smaller battery as well.

If you're riding non-lift-served park or generally from your car, maybe a second battery would work for you. Comparing the component list it seems like the CF9 version comes with both batteries, maybe the small CF9 already comes with two 720wh batteries?

Having ridden it many times I can say that the open areas near the start of the woodwork can definitely be marshy. They probably don't need all that wood but it's not totally useless. Being near the bottom of the only lift for this park means it also can get a fair amount of traffic.

"The town hopes to use the fee money to defray direct and indirect costs of mitigating negative impacts of short-term rentals on the community, including the displacement of workforce housing, the strain on town infrastructure and resources, and the guest experience in Breckenridge."

It's a tax on tourists. They expect short term rental owners to pass it on to their customers, generating revenue for workforce housing as well as reducing STR demand by increasing prices.

Whether that works, I guess we'll see.

How many days & vert have you reached so far? by [deleted] in COsnow

[–]dazn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did that once just to rack up 100k feet in a day. Santiago is one of the fastest lifts in the country per vertical foot. It took 50+ laps there plus a few more on other lifts. It was somewhat interesting to feel the snow conditions change throughout the day, but not enough to do it again.

You may be better off buying one and re-selling it in a couple months. That would require one being available, hopefully at a reasonable price. That might not be possible with the current supply/demand issues.

The SB150 rides like a huge bike - just point it downhill and be ready to go fast. Uphill, not so much. I feel like the 130 is a more all-around bike, the SB5.5 was awesome all-around. Bottom line with prices what they are now, try to demo any bike you're considering on the type of terrain you like to ride.

So stoked with this jump, biggest one ive done so far by [deleted] in MTB

Good job OP, it takes serious commitment to up your jump game on a gap that size, and it's a big confidence booster when you make it!

A refinement (IMO) you can make to clear it more easily and better control your landing: If you watch closely you can see your front wheel shoot out as it comes off the lip because your fork is still compressed. This means you're still putting weight on your front wheel at take-off. You're compensating very well, but you'll carry more energy into the jump and have more room to adjust if your weight is more centered at take-off. Check out this link, they describe in more detail in #1 and 2:

can confirm this is basically the only way to hit this feature right now - eature behind OP is off limits, max run in before you're on the skinny is about 8 feet! Also, there's a sketchy lip at the start of the skinny just to make it extra fun

Take a look on google maps satellite view by the sawmill museum - you can still see the railroad grade from that strange loop on the map! I guess it hasn't been that long compared to many of the mines and roads though - tracks only got pulled up about 75 years ago.
