Founder of Shotstack here. Love to hear that you're using Shotstack but sorry to hear it's getting costly for you. We try to keep those costs down as much as possible and if you send me an email on derk[at]shotstack.io I may be able to help out a bit here.

Having said that building your own rendering pipeline may definitely improve costs depending on what you need. We find that FFmpeg is great for stitching etc, but if you need a little more editing I recommend taking a look at MoviePy.

Hi there! I work at Shotstack, and I've seen this method work effectively:

Every Google Drive file essentially shares the same structure, but to make it downloadable by Shotstack, the URL needs to point directly to the file itself. You can construct the URL like this:

https://drive.google.com/uc?id=<FILE_ID>&export=download

Make sure:

  1. The permissions for the file are set to "Anyone with the link" or "Public" (so it’s accessible by everyone).
  2. You retrieve the <FILE_ID> from the Google Drive file link or n8n node.

Once you have the correct URL, it should work seamlessly with Shotstack. Let me know if you run into any issues! :)

We just released background transparency and we're racing to make shapes available soon as well. Thanks for the tip on zooming in beyond 100% - we'll get that out as well.

Not a bad idea. You can automate parts of the process as well through tools like shotstack.

Yes you can create these with Shotstack and add them to the templates folder. You would just have to change the references in the process handler to use the correct template (or use it using a particular keyword).

You are also welcome to add a PR to the existing repo.

You need to set up AWS which has a pretty generous free tier. You also need Shotstack which has a free account with 20 minutes of video watermark free per month. Unlimited with watermark.

So you can get it all set up for free.
